New Heads

I have a 99 Tahoe with the Vortec 5.7L. I was wondering if I should get my heads Port and polished or if there is another choice.

Will the GM Fast Burn heads work on the fuel injected engines because I only saw them for the carburated ones.

GM makes aluminum vortec heads that would be a direct swap for your heads, but you probably wouldn't see a big gain going to them (in stock form). The factory vortec heads flow pretty as is. Where you should look for more power is with a larger cam, headers, and computer tuning. You'll sacrifice some low end power for top end go, but your top end will be a lot stronger if you go with a little more aggressive camshaft.

 

If you want to keep your low end power, and gain more power throughout the powerband, I'd put on a whipplecharger. You'll gain awesome torque and horsepower.
