Dash Cams

Was wondering if any of you guys have these in your personal or company trucks? If so which one have you found to be the most reliable with the clearest picture and easiest to operate? It seems like I’ve been searching one for over two years and while reading reviews on Amazon just can’t come to a decision as to which one to get. Looks like most of them have great reviews and at the same time horrible reviews so not sure which way to go with this.

I have had this one for a couple of weeks. Wired into RAP this last weekend. Quality is excellent (UHD) but too early to provide any meaningful feedback. My main concern is longevity in the Florida sun. I've had a couple of radar detectors fry in the heat. Time will tell.

Going to read about this one as well. Just went to Amazon and it looks like it has great reviews overall. Also, yes, that would be the only way to set it up to the ignition. Don’t want to ever forget to turn it on manually.

Something to think about with all dash cams that use SD cards is the life of the card. Standard cards are only rated for around 500 writes. My camera came with a 16GB card which at full resolution will hold about 1 hour of recording. That equates to about 20 days if running 24/7 before the card is spent. I upgraded to a 64GB high endurance card which is rated for 2000 writes. Even then it will only last about a year if running continuously. That's the main reason I don't run 24/7.

How did you run the cable from the dash cam to the power source? Can you post some pics?

I ran from the drivers side fuse panel up the A pillar over the head liner to the overhead console.

This (from another poster) is where I tapped in.

Hmmm... 83MPH... That's why I decided against the GPS logger. Don't want the evidence.

I also considered the rear camera but wanted the UHD. Seeing your video, the UHD isn't a huge improvement but I would be able to read the license plates.
