Adding OEM tow hooks to 2017 Sierra SLT

Hi. I want to add the OEM tow hooks and all related parts to my SLT (that came with covers only) and I’m getting all the parts I need. So far I have:

Tow Hook Package: Part # 84072463

Tow Hook Covers: Part # 23243485 (right)

Part # 23243484 (left)

Access Cover: Part # 23199123

Since the hardware required comes with the tow hook package and reusing some bolts from the existing setup, I think this is everything I need.

Can anyone confirm? Also it looks like I need to remove the grille and bumper to do this ( my local Chevy GMC Buick dealer is going to do the work. I’ve searched and haven’t found this exact scenario yet. Thanks everyone for your help.

Just curious, this is because you have a 2wd, right?

Looking forward to seeing this installed. I plan on doing the same thing except doing it myself. Hopefully someone chimes in soon.

Biggest issue I’ve seen people run into on here is getting a bolt inserted on the driver side frame as there is part of the frame blocking it from just sliding in. This guy in the video is showing how to do it without removing grille and bumper. I’d say it would be a pretty easy install yourself, there’s plenty other videos for installing as well. Or you could just throw money at the dealer if that’s your plan. Parts list I can’t help on.

I tried and I can’t even get the existing covers removed due to clearance, that’s one of the reasons I’m just gonna have the dealer do it. They said it’s 1 hour shop time. They do have step by step directions for this type of work I assume. I saw on another thread someone was posting steps but they didn’t look complete. I’m surprised this isn’t a little more common of a task so far.

You need hooks or just for looks?

I have hooks and thinking about removing them and installing cube LED lights in the place.

Just not that important on the list to do it yet and lack of time

Not for looks I need functioning tow hooks in case my 2wd is on a slippery boat ramp.. should’ve got a 4x4 comments: I know.

Here is my 2wd with front tow hooks installed. Installed them when I had the front bumper off. Was thinking about switching over to redline hooks some day though

What is the access cover: part # 23199123?

It is a finishing piece to cover up the gap between the hook and the bumper. I found that without it I heard a whistling sound at high speed. Since adding that access cover, no whistling.

So how much did you end up spending on this?

I plan on doing this but adding a small pod light to the top of each housing. I want to wire them so they turn on with the DRLs. I'll put a dimmer on them so they aren't so obvious.
