I thought you said you were taking a break?! Lol. Always heard great things about audiofrog, just never heard them in person. Last nice system I did was a bit10 with hertz comps and it all just cost too much for me to do again. I like the boom boom more than hearing the yazz flute in the 3rd chair on the 4th row haha

Good thread, what did y’all end up doing ? Btw ima jl fanboy lol least worked for me and sound good. I’ve never really tried anything else but I’m sure there’s plenty of comparable subs out there. I just gotta be willing to try them. I like the idea of this center console for a sub. How did that work out got any more pics?

I'd love to see this installed, this is just about the only way I would add a sub to my truck. I have a full system just sitting in boxes because I don't want to tear my sierra apart and mess with it.

Well after I got it all installed it sounded like crap. My 8” alpines under the back seat would put it to shame. I knew it had to be the box. Turns out it was only .9 cf and tuned in the mid 50hz and its supposed to be double that size and tuned in the low to mid 30hz range. I dropped my truck off this morning for my local guy to build a new box. The only bad part is the console will have to go all the way to the edge of the back seat to get proper volume. Still waiting to hear back from nitchbox on getting my money back since it wasn’t what we agreed on. I will be back in town Monday to pick the truck up and I will give an update then.

Alright guys I finally got in from work and was able to get my new console installed. I was able to ship the Nitchbox console back and get a refund due to him making the original console the wrong specs for the sub.

We also went ahead and installed the JL Fix82 and TWK D8 dsp. Jl C2 3.5” in the dash and I already had the C2 6x9 in the front doors. It sounds amazing, pricey but worth it IMO. This sub blends excellent with every day listening but can also get nasty when I want to crank it up.

Any reason they could have extended the front of the box to the console to avoid taking up the back leg room? Looks like quite a bit of room in front of the box. Gorgeous box either way. I just can’t seem to get over losing the storage.

Exact thought when I saw the pictures, Could probably make it look almost stock doing that.

That was the only drawback to this design but there is an airbag control module right in between the seats on the floor and we couldn’t put this big ass sub right over it due to two reasons. The sub is too tall, the armrest would have been way too high, and the installer didn’t want the pressure of the sub blowing right down on top of that module. We could have brought the console all the way to the dash but then I would have lost my 110v plugs and the pull down compartment. But that wouldn’t matter because the sub would have had to stay in the same location at the back of the console.

    • After I wrote that reply I went for a ride. 85 F out. So trans started at 85 F and it shifted the same as it did an hour latter at 168 F. I've never actually recorded the to cold to shift point but it is under 32 F before they start hanging on to a lower gear or leaving the converter unlocked. Both intended to heat fluid.    Yes, brake or bake. Absolutely.      Your welcome. True research ended decades ago. Field trials are still in play.    There is a thing called oxidation onset temperature. This is the heat related oxidation not the O2 exposure kind. For mineral oil that starts at 140 F. So what happens after 140 F? Each 20 F cuts fluid life in half! Does using a Full Synthetic improve that? Yes! By how much? Depends on the base oil type and a few other factors. But enough to notice. Some esters are even higher. There are even synergies between types the will raise it higher than any one component is alone.    Then there is "Hindered" oils. Antioxidant additives. Hindered Polyol Esters can sit at 500 F for years in a turbine.   When a blender brags his oil will 'take 500 F" in service he doesn't specify for how long. Water will dance on a 500 F hot plate for several seconds. @newdude put up a chart showing the relationship between fluid temperature and it's life in an automatic transmission. Here's a version of that chart for Group III based oils. These temperatures are those in the pan as observed as 'normal'. that is you drive as you do for as long as you do under what load you ask of it and whatever that temperature is this graph applies to. Flash temperatures of a few minutes isn't what his means.    Note that fluids held at a constant 240 F have a service life of only 20K miles. 220 F explains the factory exchange limit, eh? My equipment I keep under 180 F and I'm good if the cooler will hold it as low as 140 F. But that's me.
    • Im in the same boat. Carlink adapter comes tomorrow and dev account is in process. Would you he able to send the new instructions my way also? Question, do you have to change code and republish app everytime developer updates? Thanks for your assistance, truly the only thing i cant stand about my truck is the carplay limitation

    • I’ll take the blue one!
    • And Google AI says......... Yes, your truck can technically handle it, but you will be right at or near its maximum limit. A 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country with a 6.5-foot bed has a maximum payload capacity of approximately 1,770 pounds.Weight RealitiesLoad weight: Half a cord of dry hardwood weighs roughly 1,100 to 1,500 pounds depending on the wood type (like oak or hickory).Payload limit: Payload includes the weight of the wood, you, any passengers, and a full tank of gas.The math: If you weigh 200 pounds and have a full tank of gas, a 1,500-pound load of wood puts you right at that 1,770-pound ceiling.Safety TipsCheck the yellow and white sticker on your driver-side door jamb for your truck's exact payload number, as high-end luxury trims with extra features have slightly lower capacities than basic trucks.Expect the rear end to sag noticeably.Drive carefully, avoid sudden turns or stops, and keep speeds low if you have to travel a distance.
