Does removing OnStar VCIM throw error codes?

I'm not trying to disable OnStar because I wear a tinfoil hat. I need the space where it sits for a USB hub and car PC. I read doing so on some cars will throw error codes on the DIC, including engine light. Does anyone know if it does this on NNBS trucks? If so, can the dealer remove the OnStar option with a Tech2 to prevent these codes?

On my 2008 Sierra when I removed the OnStar module and drove the truck it threw codes, Service four wheel drive, ABS light and engine light. When I reinstalled it the codes reset and went away. Not sure if there's a work around with tech2, but I kind doubt it.  Maybe you can try relocating it?
