There is a fix for this, I had my '17 reprogrammed.  Its better but not as good as the '14 I had.

There’s a TSB (#17-na-269)for screen brightness on 2017’s. The issue for me was the backup camera screen brightness. It was blindingly bright. The dimming adjustment wheel on the dash had no effect in toning it down.
I had the SW flashed at the dealer and it made a big difference.
