Block heater in 2019s?

Very clean and smart. I have been wondering why they didn't do this years ago. I see so many trucks with hood rash from owners letting it flop in the wind and beat against the truck. In the GMT900's and K2's it was just coiled up and tied by your spare battery tray. I would route it back down under the front and zip tie it to my tow hooks. Finally a design without having to have the cord end hanging out ruining the look of your front end. Props to GM on that one.

The logic is sound, however it is not correct in this case.

There are two covers. I removed the outer cover that requires you to pry it open, be it with a screw driver or a butter knife LOL or whatever you use. There is then another cover that is on a spring that just flips open and closed very easily and protects the plug from the elements.

I see GMC is different.  My Silverado only has the spring-loaded flip up cover.

Interesting that it seems to change with and without the factory fogs...

(although he didn't tell us that specifically)

Anybody know if the silverado 1500's also have multiple versions?

Does anyone know the correct part numbers for a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 with a 5.3? I moved to Alaska and want to make sure I order the correct parts. I emailed gmcpartsstore and they Replied with the following:

“Hello, sorry about the late response, I'm not showing your vehicle to have a block heater option but if it does the numbers are # 12586687 (heater) # 84564683 (cord assy) # 84564682 (harness extension) and # 84564686 (extension) all are special order out of Michigan were due to shutdowns and staff cutbacks orders are taking 3 to 4 weeks to receive

Thank you for your business,”

Unlike the Sierra the Silverado does not have the extra cover you have to remove so it's easier to access.
