2008 GMC Sierra DIC Issues

Hello All. New member and first time GMC owner.

I'm having issues with the DIC in the truck. It started off with the "Passenger Door Ajar" warning. Now it sometimes at startup goes nuts. It just starts going thru what language, different settings, and so on.

I just replaced the battery, and at first I thought that was it. It started doing the same thing again. Any ideas? Will it show any codes if I take it in to a shop?

Hey, Sorry I must have overlooked this post. Let me see if I can help. It sounds like you could have multiple issues going on. What controls the settings for your truck are the buttons on the steering wheel. Next time it starts acting up, try pressing the button on the steering wheel and see if it goes faster or stops the issue. You could always unplug the buttons and see if that fixes it as well. If you disconnect the buttons and the DIC still continues to cycle, you will need to replace the cluster assembly and have it programmed.

As far as the passenger door ajar message. That's an input from the latch in the passenger door. A lot of the time it is because of a broken wire in the wiring where the door connects to the the body of the vehicle. The harness there moves constantly and causes the wires to eventually break.

If you open the passenger door now does the message come up? If it does not try manipulating the harness by moving it in the boot between the door and the body and see if the message comes up. You may have to remove the harness and repair it or possibly replace it.

Thank you for the reply. The steering wheel buttons seem to work at times. I can push the lower Left button, and it will stop once the display is blank. After a time, it will start all over again. most of the time it will start with what Language to chose, but will not let me choose anything.

As for the door issue, I think the display works when the door is open. I will have to check that again to be sure. I will check the harness to.

When I open the passenger door it says nothing. Now the Driver side heated seat controls are going on without touching them. it goes up, then down, then off.

I think it's possessed. I'm at my wits end with this truck.
