Nice rig man, I have a black 2015 AT too, DCSB though. I see you managed to get a lightbar behind the grille too. I made custom mounts and put a 30" back there and did the Morimoto HID conversion and LED fogs to address the poor lighting that the 14-15 GMC's had.

Yes, I did that install on one of the snow days that we had. It was pretty straight forward, I will post some pics when I can take a few. I really like where I ended up mounting the switch. I will be going with LED's in the near future.....as like you said, the lighting is awful. I am likely going to be one of those old farts too that cant drive in the dark, cause i have a really hard time seeing as it is in the dark. That is the reason that I typically have light bars on my rigs, and living in the country, its nice to light up  these unlit back country roads we have in Kansas.......especially with all the deer. I had HID's on my Yukon. but had SO MANY issues with reliability and functionality I ended up switching them over to LED's and haven't had a single issue since.

Instead of the spray in liner, take a look at the BedRug.  I really like mine, especially with a tonneau cover.  Makes the bed like one big trunk.

Mine has something similar, but its a rubber material. I do like it, but what I really dont like is the sides. That plastic liner looks cheap and the top cap of the bed by the cab, that liner goes over top and doesnt fit well and really looks like crap.

Because it’s a carpet type of look, the BedRug doesn’t look cheap like the plastic liners.  It molds to the sides better.  Don’t get me wrong, I had a spray in liner on a previous truck and it was great.  If I was hauling a lot or didn’t have the tonneau cover, I’d have the spray in done.  I just really like the big trunk look.  Almost as big as an old Crown Vic :)

Sorry man love your truck but that new look is just no bueno.  If it’s what you want and like congrats but that look is not for me.  Enjoy the new ride!

Got any pics before and after of the upholstery you had replaced?? I’d love to see if they were able to match material well

Just saw this, I will get some in the daylight.....its already dark here. They did replace the whole bolster rather than repair the spot. It has that "carbon fiber" look to it.

No worries man. It was the exact look I was going for. I kind of expected at least one hater. I noticed that most guys on here are into the more subtle mods and more of a factory look.......to each their own

Here is the pic of after the replacement. Unfortunately I didnt have a before. Kind of hard to tell because the lighting is funny, but they look the same.

Here is where I mounted the switch. On my 2000 Yukon, the switch was over by the on-star switch which is really a stretch from the drivers seat. Something I didnt even really think about back then till I used it more. This one is pretty well where my hand rests when I have my elbow on the center console......I initially was going to mount it on the outside, but when I pulled the trim off I noticed there was already a factory split in the plastic so I didnt have to cut the piece. I just cut the wires on the switch, fed them through, then re-soldered and heat shrinked them back. Im super happy with how it worked out.

Nice, looks good I didn't get that fancy. I cringed at the thought of drilling a hole in the dash of my truck so I just electrical taped the switch to the telescopic steering wheel lever lol.. I am weird like that, even the mounts I made for the lights clamp on the front clip brace behind the grille rather than drilling through it like the dealer does. Maybe I should look at doing the switch properly like that.

Well, As you all know, I did the lift a couple weeks ago. The kit I thought came with shocks, and I just thought that it came with all 4.......but only came with the rears. I did upgrade the kit to the Bilstien's. When I pulled the shocks off I was floored to see what kind of condition they were in. The truck originally came from New York, and I know the factory Ranchero's don't have a good reputation for aging well.....but for 40k miles, I expected them to look better. I had issues even getting the spring seats off of them. They almost looked completely corroded through the body. During the lift seeing what kind of shape they were in I went ahead and ordered the front's.....as nobody in town had them in stock.....and I finally had a chance to get them in.

I will say that I had a butt ton of rubbing. I ended up doing the Nor Cal mod, and still had issues. Once I got the Bilstien Shocks in and saw that they were adjustable, I went up about another inch in the front (kinda wanted to anyway to get more of a level look) and everything went away.........full steer lock to lock and no rub.

    • I had skimmed through that article when you posted the link and honestly I felt rather defeated in a sense and realized that all these years in changing oil that in fact putting in what I was told was a good quality oil was probably not filtered as well as it should be although the filter put on the engine would be what ( as long as it never went into bypass mode ) would be the final filtering of the new oil that the engine components would first see, but then the filtering media itself is not up to par to what is ideal because a full flow filter would be too restrictive to filter fine enough for the engines best outcome in the long run. Only one of our tractors over the years which was a Versatile with a 855 Cummins had a separate bypass filter, some engine manufacturers did spec a partial bypass system within the main oil filter but I don't believe any other trucks or equipment I was servicing used such a filter. No doubt a product like the Amsoil bypass system is of benefit as long as nothing goes sideways with the extra plumbing and filter such as a rupture/leak that could cause the oil to pump out of the engine ( yes that Versatile had a remote canister with hoses routed to it as well ). With the idiot egr system on a diesel and as a result forcing a lot more soot into the oil, that certainly isn't helping the diesel engines cause or as you pointed out the GDI engine issue with creating more soot and aside from having a fancy secondary filtering system, changing the oil more often helping lower the total soot load.     So oil manufacturing and the end product is not something one can control and I wonder if there are specs on what various oil packaging companies produce in particle count or size. As to the filtering, if the OEM is not designing a filter size and spec that is really what it could be, they too are short changing the end user and so what is the answer. Of course as you say the oil side can only do so much if the air side isn't keeping up its end of the picture and air filters are only so efficient and if in a dusty environment such as farm or construction or driving gravel roads there is a lot of dirt to filter out and some of that ends up into the air stream.    Of course the irony in places like where I am where they dump the salt on the highways but also will mix in some calcium or outright pure calcium for problem road area's, or using calcium as dust control on gravel roads, the vehicle that gets used in that environment may rust out before a properly engineered engine and maintenance finally wears out so one has to face that reality in the rust belt.
    • Has anyone run these on their 2500?
    • have you stuck with dealer oil changes since then? I made the same switch after getting tired of crawling around under the truck, but I’ve found some dealers are way better than others about getting you in quickly. Curious if yours has been good about scheduling or if you’ve had to look elsewhere for quicker turnaround.
    • Thank you.   I am set on a 3.0 Duramax as my previous truck with a Ford Ecoboost had just as many, if not more, "common" issues.  Cam phasers, timing chain issues, 10-speed valve body and CDF drum, emissions issues, etc.  So I figured, why not get 2x the fuel mileage (these things got 27+mpg on every mixed city/highway test drive I put them through) and better towing capability with resale value to boot?   My minimum, shortest trip will be 50 miles 1-way and I regularly go out of state with a travel trailer.  I'm planning on using this for a marketing/event promotion business also, which would require regular towing of trailers for bands, DJs, sound and lighting gear, along with my personal camera gear for filming events.   Looked at other trucks in the $30k+ price range but the issues seem to be everywhere, plus too many with gaudy mods.  I'm literally sticking with RWD trucks because they tend to be actually used as trucks, vs. the 4x4 models I've seen with unsafe lifts, huge tires, and general mods that would affect reliability (I'm wondering if some of them were tuned, hence the aggressive throttle response and hard shifting).   So my goal is to find a stock, 3.0 with 1 or 2 owners, in good physical condition, and decently well maintained.  Can't seem to find that up here, everything in the $27-30k range has had multiple owners, smoke smell, issues, or body damage.  Or the ridiculously modified trucks with 80k miles for under $27k but lots of problems...
    • That’s pretty tough Grumpy. I reread the previous few posts. They all reference oil changes. Much like your last thread. In my humble opinion it keeps things interesting.
