De-Chrome Front Lip

Recommended Posts

Has anyone vinyl wrapped, painted or plasti dipped the front chrome lip on their 2014-18 silverados?  I searched on here, but couldn't find anything.  I'm looking at painting or wrapping just that little front lip to match the rest of the colored front end of my LTZ truck.  Would love to see photos preferably in black if you've done this!

I did mine in bed liner spray. Looks much better to me!008D2C6E-8604-465C-8382-05AE89258DFD.thumb.jpeg.9992e1d7b0ceab7511e34dea6bb2c29c.jpeg

I assume you took it off, so how hard is that?

Not hard at all. Get your plate and mount off and then a couple safety tabs on the back to pull out and the rest is all little tabs that it pops out of around it.

I noticed my bedliner spray is bubbled in a couple spots, so I’ll be taking it off again soon to fix that :-(

Yes - I just had it wrapped yesterday. Also had my chrome lettering done, bowties and wheels blacked out.

Took me a couple hours, but I chipped off all the spray can bed liner spray and then went to scuff the chrome real good, to find it could be peeled off. It’s literally a thin film of metal.

I never thought what what the chrome would be, but if you work an edge it will peel up like a sardine can. Crappy part is it’s a bunch of little slivers, so takes time.

Now I'm down to just plastic. Scuffed it all up with my air grinder and ready to be wiped down and coated with a better bed liner spray kit.
