Radio and Dome lights will not turn off

The core issue is that the Radio and Dome lights will not turn off when the truck is turned off, and the door is closed, even after a long time.

 

Much google-ing says that it was the door open sensor at the door latch.  I removed it and took it to NAPA, and they said it would be $400!!

 Question:

How can I be sure the door latch is the problem?  Is there a way to test it (volts over some PIN's or something)

If it is the door latch, then can I repair it myself?

Is there a cheaper solution?

 

If not, then can I 'break it' closed, so that the radio and dome lights go off with the engine? (unplug one of the sensors, fuse, or something else)?

After unplugging, jump the wire harness to simulate a closed door. If it works, then the switch is broken. If not, then trace wire back to next Connector and repeat.

There is an earlier post on here from the 2007-2013 body style about interior lights not shutting off tied to the passenger door, not same problem, but close.

Not sure what this is.  is this the plug that plus into the door latch, the one I have removed?

@JimCost2014 Yes there are some, but none related to this.  Maybe I will check again.  The first time I was looking for the codes for my 4wd switch lights not on, no codes for that either though (found a fuse for that).
