8 speen transmission problems

Peter C. Streechon

Question

Bought a 2017 GMC Canyon brand new more than a year ago . Have had transmission problems for most of the time I have owned it. Typical fish bite hesitation, and rumble strip bouncing. Dealer has replaced torque converter and flushed transmission fluid after three trips to dealer. Rumble strip bouncing has been fixed, but fish bite hesitation still there. Bringing truck back to dealer next Monday.

Have read articles in this forum about transmission issues and my problems  looks like many people are having the same issues. Does anyone have a truck who had these issues and have been completely  repaired? If so, what did the dealer do?

I like the truck except for being frustrated with the transmission.

Have also informed GM. They have acknowledged my e mails , but  no other correspondence .

I own a 2018 Chevy Colorado LT 3.6 L V-6 with the 8 speed transmission. At just under 20,000 miles, I had taken it to the dealership for tranny problems (between 20 & 40 mph, it felt like it was hunting for gears, other was like driving over rumple strips in the road). The dealer flushed out the old transmission fluid & put in new. Now with just over 24,000 mile on it, it's starting to do the same thing. It's coming time for the oil change, so then I suppose they will flush it again as there is NO permanent fix. I know someone who owns a 2017 Colorado who has a trans flush every time he gets an oil change. If I would have known this, I would have NEVER bought this truck or any Chevy truck. Previously I owned a 1994 Chevy S-10 V-6 & a 2004 Ford Ranger V-6 in which was totalled, this is when I bought the Colorado.

Truthfully, I love this truck, the fit & finish, the power, the mpg (25.4mpg is the best I've ever gotten ) & the perfect size, HOWEVER, that damn transmission.
