Parasitic drain

Kevin Stich

Question

I have a parasitic drain of 4.8 amps and I have checked the fuse voltage drops but I can't find the problem. I have been disconnecting the battery to keep it from discharging overnight

Generally you can find what is drawing the power by removing fues one at a time, and then relays, one at a time, then disconnecting modules, including alternator.  Try to not remove two things without checking the first one. A draw that big should be easier to locate.

Was gonna post exactly what was posted above.

Alternator is always my first check. Also, feel around for warm areas on the alt., or fuses & relays first - sometimes you can find the draw that way. Thermal imagers are great for finding parasitic draw. Still a little spendy, but they're coming down. I use the old digits - that costs me nothing. :)
