traded my white 2017 z71 1500 5.3 double cab for a black 2016 2500HD 6.0L Crew cab.

I was originally going to get a 2500 but saw the 1500 and settled for it back in September/October. It was a really nice truck but not what I really wanted.  just kind of started looking around at the local dealers websites last weekend to see what they had for a nice used HD and ran across this one and now its in my driveway lol.

Im really loving it so far.

Nice!  I seriously considered a new 19 2500 gasser when I was looking.  I bought a left over 18 1500 instead.  Most days I happy I did, but every now and then I think I should have gotten the 2500.  Maybe will look at the new 2020 6.6 gasser once they have been out for a while.

I got a few questions why not get the 6.6 duramax? I would think the 1500 6.2 v8 or even the 5.3 v8 is better than the old 6.0 now I know the duramax is better than both for power and tq the old 6.0 makes 360 hp 380 tq the 5.3 not on e85 makes 355hp 383 tq and the 6.2 makes 420hp 460 tq . So too me the 5.3 and 6.2 are way better than the old gen 4 6.0 . I know my 6.0 was good in my gto but it was a car and very fast and my 5th gen ss camaro was even faster with 6.2 . But they are cars .

I hear ya but at the same time making more power doesnt make it a better engine. the 6.0 is somewhat dated and a little underpowered but its a good reliable engine and personally, I could not stand the AFM on the 5.3 and I did not like the rough idle. I know the AFM problems are somewhat over exaggerated online but mine felt glitchy and it felt like the trans was slipping. Also despite the power I think the 6.0 is still better for hauling and I see the 6.2 as more of a street performance motor

I agree.  The 6.0 might be the best overall engine GM has ever built.  Incredibly reliable, port injection, no AFM and they make great power and low end torque.  I have an original 6.0 in my 2000 GMC, it a transplant from a 2001 3500.  It has over 300k on it now and still going strong.  That 2000 will smoke my 18 5.3 in a race to 100 mph.  The newer ones have variable valve timing and make a few more horses than mine does.

The 6.2 DI motors are fun and make good power, but I think in the long run, the older design will win the longevity battle.  The new ones just have too many gimicks and gadgets.  Now mod a 6.2 to mechanically remove AFM and maybe it would last as long.

I make it sound like I don't like my 18, but I really do.  I just have no illusions that it will be around in 20 years like my 2000 is now.  Hell, that one may still be around 20 years from now.

There's a reason GM kept the 6.0 in the HD trucks and not use the 6.2... numbers don't tell the hole story.  I think 2500 drivers are far less forgiving than 1500 buyers when it comes to reliability, as they're used for actual work and not weekend warriors... if the wheels ain't rolling, they ain't earning...

Good looking truck.  I'd *want* to have the duramax, but don't have to tow/haul nearly enough to warrant the huge increase in buy-in cost, 100k mile injectors, etc., so the 6.0 would be fine.  In actuality, my 5.3 fills my weight needs, especially from a cost/mile standpoint.  My friend at work bought a '15ish D-max 3500 CC dually a year or two ago, but he regularly hauls LARGE boats (20-30k lb) NY-FL or back several times a year.

I wasn’t trying to be a ass about any of it it’s a nice truck either way. My 14 1500 hasn’t had any issues. With afm and I got almost 95k miles it still does go in v4 but once my warranty is over it’s gonna get a tune . Mods so far cai muffler delete l86 tb and intake swap 170 t stat. Mine pulls good really go on e85 .and I pull a 34.5 camper with no issues up and down mountain in Tennessee and I can still get 10.5 mpgs so I can’t complain too much . Next will be headers exhaust and tune.
