I have a 2019 AT4 that every time I start the truck and select Nav, I get the following message:

 

SD card message: Once initialized, this SD card can only be used for navigation in this vehicle. 

 

My my only option is to hit the confirm button on the screen and then my Nav map will load with no further issues. Does anyone know how to clear this message so it doesn’t show up every time I start my truck. Thanks in advance for the help.

Thanks for the feedback. I did set up a user profile on my truck recently, but am still getting the message.

There is another thread on this. The problem is that the card is locked and cant be written to. The truck is trying to initialize the card and write data to it but it cant. Floppy disks used to have the same thing back in the day.

 

Pull the card out and look on the side. There is a little tab. Move it to the unlocked position, put the card back in, start the truck, and then it will happen more time, press confirm, and you shouldn't see it again.

 

Same thing happened with my truck.

After updating to 807 and replacing the SD Card and card receptacle, GM now wants to replace the radio control module, which requires two visits, one where they need to get the number off the current unit and another to replace same.

 

I want them to go to back to 509, the last known working version which had no problem at all.

 

Has anyone been successful in getting a dealer to go back to an earlier software version?

 

Any other updates anyone? Please provide the latest status.

I am having this same issue.  My dealer too wants to replace the radio module.  I am not thrilled about them tearing apart the dashboard in my 9 day old 1500 Denali.  Has anyone had any luck in getting this issue resolved?  Currently, the SD card has been replaced as well as the SD card reader.  Anyone able to help?

Similar issue.  SD card removed error randomly occurring riding down the road.  Not all the time.  However, I could make it happen error by disconnecting the USB cable from the truck side outlet.  At which point the USB ports (dash and console) were dead (no power; no Apple Carplay) until some time later usually sitting overnight.  Dealership replaced SD card today....didnt fix it.  So I demonstrated the issue to the tech, so they took it back again.  After an hour of waiting this morning they are replacing the radio module (I think).  I was told the dash had already been taken apart, so they gave me a loaner.  New parts to arrive on Monday, so we'll see if its fixed then.

 

Hoping this fixes the issue, but I am going to be meticulous in making sure none of the trim is scratched or loose.  Only had the truck for a month...

I just got my 2021 AT4 and was getting this same message and unlocking the SD card did the trick.  My question is why was it locked to begin with, is this something the dealer did inadvertently or did it come from the assembly line this way.  Anyway, my problem is fixed thanks for the post.

I am having the same issue. I have a 2021 AT4 with 600 miles on it. The dealership told me that the SD card needed to be replaced. So they are ordering me one in. At the same time I had a check engine light come on and on star told me it was throwing a P00C7 code. I had a 2019 AT4 and had nothing but trouble with it. The dealership told me that it was uncommon to have this many problems with this truck, that’s why I traded for a new one. Now I’m having problems with the new one already. I’m starting to loose confidence in GM.

I fixed it in my 2020 malibu 2.0l so i bought new 16gb sd card from dollerama for $4 and copy the gm navigation sd card to new one make sure u copy all the system files check for hidden files too copy all and before u copy format to fat32 with cluster size 32k than name the sd card as same as gm card showz it will fix all the problems and even make navigation system runs faster

      If it has a stick I can have fun with it. When my wife first got her Acura years ago I used to tease her about it. I was only interested in muscle cars. They’re gone now. So once a month I drive the Acura. Every once in a while I’ll take it to Redline. But just normal driving on some twisty back roads usually does the trick.

      I went through again with a test light and everything checked out.    I suppose it could be the MAF itself but I've tried 3 different sensors, 2 of which were in running vehicles previously (the one in this truck, and the one in the donor truck), as well as a new one I picked up from NAPA. I would just be surprised if all 3 were bad.   EDIT/UPDATE: I swapped in the MAP sensor that was originally with the 2010 PCM, that made the code for map sensor voltage high Go away, and the map sensor seems to read normal with key on engine off (14psi or so), but it still doesn't run and does the same thing as before.

      In addition to a cell or wifi connection, the infotainment needs to be enabled to download software updates. That's a toggle within the system settings.   But...if the truck was prevented from receiving updates in a past life, missing a bunch of updates may mean it won't go back and download all of those because they're not available or the system is too far out of date.   If a formal recall depends on a software update, the recall for that truck remains in an open status until it's applied. The dealer would need to apply the software update in that instance.   Most updates downloaded and applied via the infotainment aren't recalls/safety recalls, they're enhancements and usability fixes which aren't critical.

      Brake Pad Warning Message

      Recently I've been getting a message, "New Brake Pads Detected. Reset Brake Pad Life?", But I haven't had the pads replaced and the truck only has 28,000 miles. The Brake Pad Life shows Front 64% and Rear 79%. I select NO to resetting the brake pad life and the message goes away but comes back at the nest restart.   I stopped by the dealer and was told that it sounds like a software glitch that would require reprogramming. Even though I have the extended warranty, they tell me that reprogramming is not covered unless a module was actually bad and needed to be replaced. Simply reprogramming is not covered. So, they want $200.00 just to diagnose the problem. If it turns out no bad module, another charge on top of that to do the reprogramming. If the cause was an actual bad module, everything would be covered under the warranty.   Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Should this issue be covered under the warranty?   Thanks

      NHT is diesel only, correct.     The GVWRs for NHT on 3/4 ton bring them to the same numbers as many of the 2WD 1 tons.  A crew 4x4 standard 3/4 with NHT is 11,750lbs, a 1 ton same cab/box/4x4 is 12,100lbs.     Hubs and hub bearings are the same for 11.5" and 12" axles.  Housing, diff carrier and ring/pinion are larger for the 12".   All gas use the 11.5" axle, 3/4, 1 ton and 1 ton DRW.
