New 1999 Silverado 5.3L ECSB

Welp guys got rid of the tahoe and got me a new truck.. I couldnt go any longer without having a NBS Chevrolet. I got a few questions however. On the 99 does the message center tell you when to change oil or when you are low on gas? Also what exhaust would you guys go with? Borla or Corsa?

If it is the same as my 2000 was (I would think it would be) the answers are yes and yes. It will tell you when you are low on fuel and if you are low on oil. It will also tell you to change your oil, however it is not based on oil life but rather your driving style calculations.

You may be able to program the functions, but I think you'd need a programmer similar to what the dealer would have. Or, you could get an R&D unlock kit, or an upgraded BCM which would allow you to have a few extra functions too.

I did the R&D on mine. I didn't know that you could put in a whole new BCM.

Yep, I was unaware of the change option as well when I got the kits put on my 99.

Is there anyway i can keep the lights from automatically coming on at night? It bothers me because i always pull into my yard with the lights off and now i cant turn them off.

On my old 00' Sierra I had to hit the dome override switch five times and the auto headlights would turn off.

That works on the 00's, but not on the 99's- at least not on mine. The only way on the 99 without the use of a kit, would be to press the e-brake pedal down before starting the truck. Obviously this will only work if you plan on parking it for a bit instead of driving.
