How do they know...

It's like trailer parks and tornadoes.  There is some unexplainable attraction.  Or is it really an evil plot?

I had just finished washing my truck, and was taking some pix of the CB antenna I installed.  Then blammo...

Bird.JPG

If I were paranoid I'd swear that bird was aiming for me, but I know the b@st@rds have it in for my truck.  As I drive back roads I can hear the crows cawing "White Truck, White Truck!!!".

So whadaya think?  Unexplainable attraction or EVIL Plot.

hmm, I would have to say evil plot. I just washed my truck and a bird, no a hawk, took a huge sh*t on my truck. I will take a picture of it for you and post it sometime. It is huge!!

My worst story

Washed the front fender was moving on to the side of the truck and BAM same thing like the pic above.  It was so bad the fender started smoking.  It was gross

We don't even notice that anymore.  You'd be hard pressed to find a windshield on the place that a bird hasn't attacked.  All comes from our garage being open all the time and the machine shed open all day long, birds fly in and sit on the rafters and just have a hayday crapping all over everything in sight.  Not much a guy can do about it, we tried the fake owl thing, that lasted about three days.  Tried that goo, kept the birds out but dripped off all over the vehicles and machinery, so we ended up scraping it off.  Too scared to go bird hunting inside buildings with all the $$$ stuff we have stored in there.  All thats left is to put up with it.

Bait them with some poisoned food up in the rafters.  That's what we did in the old aircraft hangar we worked in. About 100,000 square feet of pigeon free hagar.

Oh yeah, evil plot, no question!!!

"pilot to bombadier, pilot to bombadier!"

There's nothing ?funnier than watching a Blue Heron take off, and needing to lighten the "load", and drop a 20-30 foot long "rope" of the stuff that covers a huge area!  You want to talk about a mess!

It's an evil plot alright.  They always seem to know if you just washed or if you are riding with the top down.  I watched from my rearview mirror this morning as the couple in the 'stang conv. behind me gets bombed.  Got both driver and passenger.  The birds also tend to aim for my wife's Odyssey much more for some reason. ???

Wouldn't you simply wind up with the bird attached to the bird poop all over the windshield

You know, it has to be a conspiracy!!!

Where I park the truck next to the garage, there isn't a tree.  Yet somehow TWICE in the past two weeks they've managed to hit the truck.  Now you're probably thinking no big deal, the truck is pretty big and they can hit the hood, roof, etc....NOOOOOOOO, both times it has been on the driver's side, on the bed wall and the last time just under the window on the extended cab.  Not to mention this bird must've eaten another bird, cause this doody was huge!!

Point was, the difference in the air of hitting the side of the truck, and the ground was probably less than an inch, yet they managed to hit it both times!!!

HOW????  I'm hardly that accurate at 30 yards with my pistol at the range, yet these birds aren't even trying!!!

lol, yeah I usually have that happen after I wash my truck.  But right now my truck is so dirty since I haven't washed it in over a month that birds avoid crapping on it and go after clean vehicles.

Is this an evil plot by Sincity?  He freely admits it.  I think he's looking for more followers.

    • Yes, and also pulling heavy trailers or a large camper up steep grades as well as descending grades such as the more rustic off road camping locations and using engine braking with that low gearing as well as soft ground can just suck the power . I realize pickups these days tend to have an over all lower first gear ratio compared to automatic transmission pickups from years back so that has helped a lot in its ability in high range but there comes a point if in four wheel drive the torque runs out at the wheels, certainly with a gas engine. They don't put two speed transfer cases on pickups for a cool factor, they have a function if one needs that massive torque to the wheels that high range can't deliver.
    • Notes 7/18/2026   3,400 miles on this batch of Mobil 1 Euro 5W40 since the GDI pump replacement. Alcohol runs very clean when ring seal is tight and the sump isn't getting hosed with fuel. Checked oil level at fill up today as is my practice and grabbed a white Kleenex to look at the color. What color?  I was going to change it but.....
    • 4 low is really nice on steep boat ramps.
    • Interesting, I suspect I would have fueled up in Lee Vining as the day prior I would have filled up either in Laughlin or near there and maybe again before I entered Death Valley and once out the other side late that evening as I kept on driving into the night up near Lee Vining. Next morning I most likely fueled up in LV before heading over Tioga Pass into ( as I refer to it as "Yose .... Mite" 😁 ). And again that was 19 years ago but the price then must not have jumped out at me like the 5 bill a gallon theme of nutty cult hippy country Big Sir or head so far up their rear Aspen. I'd be curious to know where the highest prices are in the lower 48, I probably would not be far off to guess somewhere in Cali forn ie. Coldfoot and Prudhoe bay may have those prices beat but that is a whole other world up there and when prices are more normal elsewhere that is about what they can be up there I believe in no mans land. Anyway interesting that the 395 corridor is hosing people and the thing is, its tourist season and its not like there are a lot of competition options when driving up that highway from what I could see. Yup, big ole Boaterhomes and various other RV's ahead and behind me at the Yosemite entrance gate and they have to get their fuel somewhere.
    • Those can be high, as well as the big California cities. The ones that will pop your eyes out are the 395 corridor on the Eastern side of the Sierra Nevadas. Lee Vining, $7.19 for regular and $8.89 for diesel is what the Google said right now.
