Hobby10k Posted October 7, 2019 Posted October 7, 2019 My Truck: 2014 Silverado with factory remote start. Id like to add some long range 2 way remotes to my truck. I always liked having 2 way remotes on my other rigs. I would like to know if if there are any plug and play easy to install kits. The other kits I installed were a huge pain in the butt and I’m not going through that again. But If there was an easy install I’d go for it. Anyone added 2 way remotes to their rigs?
HeySkippyDog Posted October 7, 2019 Posted October 7, 2019 Download the MyChevrolet App (formerly the OnStar app). No kits or installation necessary. For what you want to use it for, it's free too.Talk about long range. It goes over the cell network. You can have 2-way remote functionality in your phone. After that you have to pay $14/month for what OnStar calls the "Remote Access" plan.
Snowcamo Posted October 7, 2019 Posted October 7, 2019 Fyi the onstar can be completely dissabled in less then 30 seconds. Have an associate whos truck was stolen and nothing was found but a licence plate in a chop shop. Aftermarket is better for security. Sent from my LG-G710 using Tapatalk

Frankielozano214 Posted October 7, 2019 Posted October 7, 2019 I’m definitely buying a tracker after I get my seats and console for sure, mine still has the 2014 front end so I don’t have to worry til I swap my front end probably the last thing ima do to it once I pay it off
HeySkippyDog Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 Yup or have a cheap phone hidden in it somewhere with the location onHow are you keeping it charged? Did you tap power and run a hidden line to it?I'm of the mindset that in order to steal these trucks without the keys, you have to be pretty technically proficient. Anybody with that kind of skill is being paid well for it by an engineering company and doesn't need to steal cars.It does still happen I am sure, but it isn't as easy as just putting a battery to the starter with jumpers and slim jimming the door anymore.Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J727A using Tapatalk

You'd have to keep a pretty high profile for some techie thief to come after you. It's just not something I worry about. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J727A using Tapatalk

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J727A using TapatalkYou should.skip. our trucks are the most stolen in the USA. To each his own bud. I have freinds in law enforcement who will tell youbthe same. Idk the cost as im no theif. Honestly what it cost doesnt matter to me. I just know how simple it is for theifs to drive off with our trucks. Type in silverado on DFW Craigslist and look at all the parts listed. There is not that many wrecks going on around here. Its 2019 and auto theift has come along way since the 1900s. Anyhoo got work in the am. LaterSent from my LG-G710 using Tapatalk
