03 Silverado tick

I have a 2003 Silverado that whenever I start it up it will tick on the left side of the Engine,it will do this until the coolant reaches about 180 then it goes away,also if I shut it off then come back out to drive it a little later while still warm it will faintly do it then go away again.is this a lifter or something to do with the exhaust manifold that expands when heated up

It could be exhaust leak. It fits your description. You'll need to do more investigation

It could lifter or piston slap or the exhaust leak.  Check that all the bolts are present for holding the exhaust manifold to the head on both sides of the engine (they have a tendency to break off, and it can cause other problems, like poor fuel mileage, when there is an exhaust leak).

 

And if it's not exhaust problems, you may be able to better narrow down where the problem is with mechanics stethoscope (fairly cheap, should be under $20).  Just be careful where you put the pointy end with the engine running...
