Greetings...... I have my father's 74 GMC Sierra 2500 4x4. It has the granny 4 speed.

 

How should I go about extending it's short little highway legs. It can run 55 all day long but its RPM is through the roof at today's speeds.

 

I never use 1st gear.....

 

Change gears in differentials? Look for a 5 speed transmission?

 

Any advice is greatly appreciated
