I got a 2018 gmc sierra and noticed when I turn the ignition on engine light stays on without the truck running but when it’s on engine light is not on is that normal???

Welcome to the site.

Yes, 100% normal. If it stays on, or see it while driving, then you have a problem.

So I have a brand new 21 trail boss and I’ve had 4 check engine lights come on. First 2 we’re misfires in cylinders 1 and 6 but they couldn’t track what it was because the codes were stored because the lights didn’t stay on. The 3rd came on 4th of July but said it was to update ecm. Then the day after it came on for a 4th time and it stayed on solid check engine light. Took it in and they said they found code p0300. They performed crankshaft variation relearned procedure and cleared code. Told me to report back if it happens again. How many more times until I can get a lemon law involved. This probably is getting old on a brand new vehicle. Any suggestions? Anyone having the same issue with these vehicles?

I bought a 2021 GMC Sierra AT4 with 30 total miles on it on saturday. Last night, Monday night, as in 2 days later, I have a check engine light and an "emissions system" diagnostic issue.

I am pissed to say the least

Ask your dealer to perform the latest ecm update and to do the crankshaft position sensor relearn. Fixed my shudder issues and the CEL light hasn't flashed for the misfire now in over a week. I think they finally fixed it.

I just purchased a 2022 Silverado Custom at the end of October (2021). within days I got the message "Service Front Camera", I took it in to the local dealership and they said the front camera would need to be replaced and it would need to be ordered and be a couple of weeks. A day or two after that the Check Engine light came on. I took it in and they said they fixed it. they said it was due to my drivers side door being open too long when they made a small adjustment on the door. I thought that was odd but whatever. The next day the light came on again so i took it in that morning. this time they said it was power supply transformer and replaced it. the light came on the next day and i brought it back again. it was in the shop for 3 days without an answer at which point I picked it up as i needed it over the weekend and they said it was safe to drive. I brought it back in today (Monday 11/22) and I was just informed it wont be fixed today either. Extremely frustrating. I even contacted GM directly via chat last week and was basically instructed to contact the CEM (Customer Experience Manager)at the dealership my truck is at. Tried that, the phone just rand and rang.

My observation over this past weekend is that the Check Engine light comes on at about 9am the past 2 mornings as the outside temps start to warm up and then turns off at around 5:30-5:45 pm when the weather starts to cool down. It seems like 80 degrees is more or less the magic number. I also notice that when the Auto Stop feature turns the car back on, the infotainment screen flickers (almost everytime) and the music gets static-ky (using streaming service, not the radio). the Service Front Camera message also made a comeback this past Saturday.

All of that said, the truck runs fine. Has anyone else had similar symptoms or issues?
