What transfer case fluid for 2005 silverado 1500??

Hey guys im looking to do a transfer case fluid change on my 2005 chevy silverado 1500 (it is an automatic transfer case). I'm wondering what the correct fluid to use is?? Thanks

The transfer cases with the AUTO 4X4 button need the GM AutoTrak II fluid.

 

The regular transfer cases of that era run just regular Dexron 3 transmission fluid.

Note, if it is just a "regular", non-auto TC, you want to use a Dex III fluid.  While Dex VI is considered equivalent, it can cause the seals on the TC to leak due to the different formulation.

Ok it is the TC with the auto 4wd button, so autotrack 11 fluid correct??

It is the TC with the auto 4wd button.

Yes, you'll need 2 bottles of that Auto Trak fluid.

One other option is AMSOIL's ATL fluid.  I have been running it in my 2002 Auto T case for over 50k miles now with no issues.  It also comes in a nice squeeze pack which makes changing out the fluid easy and less messy.
