Installed "Morimoto" Knock-off fogs

I been looking at Morimoto fogs for a while but just couldnt spend the $200 for them. I saw identical ones on ebay, same design and housing for $88 so I thought I would try them.

 

Install was straight forward. You just use a 10mm socket from behind to push out the clips and the fog lens pops out. It's a great trick if you don't already know about it.

 

Installing the new one is easy as connecting the wires and pushing the lens into the clips.

 

They do sit out little further than stocks due to the clips that came with it. I may use the stock clips when I go to adjust them.

 

They have a nice cut off line, it's just not adjusted yet. I will adjust them one night and post pics of the cutoff.

 

I tried led bulbs in stock lenses and nothing worked, it was all blinding for oncoming trafficking and no usable light on the road.

how is the output, just asked on  a facebook page about these and no one had them?

They are pretty bright but i will need to go to a pitch dark area and see and adjust them properly.

I had 15 mins after work to quickly throw these on and my driveway isnt dark as all.

 

The build quality is pretty nice, i would say they are worth the $88 i paid.

Nice, always looking for a way to save a buck. I like the looks of the unit/housing.

I put some bright LED bulbs in mine so I have super bright fog lights but they don't look this cool, if they are as bright I may go this route, can you post a short video of them on a night if you get time?

I will at some point and update. We just got lots of snow last night so hard to do it now.

I also had different LED bulbs in mine, last being a super bright headlight style bulb but it was just blinding and no useful light for me to see. Then i got these, even though they arent adjusted down yet, i can see better on the sides so they do work.

Here are some pics. Definitely more usable light. I just pointed then down all the way, I'm sure I can adjust then more but time isn't always on my side lol

First is on a pitch dark back road with just the fogs on. I may raise them up a bit and angle to the sides.

Look just like mine. Nice find. The quality of Morimoto is really seen in their harnesses/wire looms. Steel braiding, quality connections. The fogs don't have any wiring to them so I wouldn't be afraid to try off brand, and to be honest they were probably made in the same factory as the MM's. Paid $200CAD for mine in 2015, which was like $120US at the time. They don't do much besides look cool, they throw some decent light to the sides though which I found useful in town when looking for deer and pedestrians at crosswalks.
