Carplay....

A couple newb questions about Carplay in my 2020 AT4...

 

Why is the screen gray? Is there a way to make it black so it's not so blinding?

 

Is a slight static noise normal when playing music from my iPhone through it?

There is another thread on here that I started about the blinding grey washed out appearance of car play. unfortunately it sounds like everyone's is this way and no fixes have been identified.

You should not hear any noises when playing music through CarPlay. It should be crystal clear. I would try a different cable, make sure your phone and vehicle software is updated, and restart your phone.

I just go back to the stock audio menu when listening to music looks better then the CarPlay player imo.

This is what I do too (at night). I have to completely dim the dash at night to get it to keep from blinding me. It's crazy they didn't put a separate dimming control for the infotainment.

That’s what I’ve been doing too... I think it’s an Apple issue, but I could be wrong

The gray is normal, the static is not. Try the factory apple cable...

I’ve tried two different cables including a factory Apple one and there is still a slight static sound... I’ll grab one of my kids’ cables and try that
