I would like to add a CAI, and even though I don't expect much of a HP gain with any setup, I want to get a good option. I like the Roto-Fab but the K&N can be had for $150 less. The snap on lid of the K&N with the rubber grommets is questionable to me for some reason. If anyone can give feedback it would be appreciated.

Not with this one specifically, but I have used KN in the past on my 2500HD w 6.0L V8 and was very pleased with it. One thing in particular, the K&N publishes the HP Gains from Dyno Tests. It looks like the results for the 5.3L V8 are 15.7HP gain and that is outstanding IMHO. The pictures I saw of the KN setup for the K&N 63-3109 have a nice factory finish under the hood, and the clip on top is using rubber grommets with oversized pins that pop into the holes, that would be a very tight seal, thinking about getting one myself now - where did you find it for $150? I'd snatch one up quick at that price, but that sounds too good to be true.
570590 Posted November 18, 2019 Author Posted November 18, 2019 It's $150 less than Roto Fab. Found it for $335 on ebay. I had a K&N years ago on a 2002 Silverado and it served me well without issues. I seem to remember reading on here from someone that they suspected the K&N would require tuning where the Roto Fab does not. And I do believe the Dyno sheet they advertise is for the 6.2

Theflowmaster Posted December 10, 2019 Posted December 10, 2019 (edited) I put one on my truck this weekend, and have 400 miles on it since install. I have averaged 19 mpg, which has been mostly highway, per the vehicles info system (which I know can be off at times). The sound is great when you put your foot in to it. I have had other brands of CAI's, but I keep coming back to K&N. Install took about 30-45 minutes, and it does seem more responsive. The rubber grommets hold the lid pretty tight. I didn't feel uncomfortable with it. I have a 19 Denali with the 6.2L. Hope this helps. Edited December 10, 2019 by Theflowmaster
Defender1 Posted February 17, 2021 Posted February 17, 2021 Has anyone had any computer issues with the 63-3109 K&N Kit. I installed one on my 2019 Sierra Denali 6.2 last night (with disconnected battery), took it for a test drive with no problems. Sounded great, all seemed good and ran it for about 20 miles, averaging 55 MPH. This morning, I ran about a mile down the road, about a mile at about 35 MPH, to a garage to wash it. I washed it, pulled it out and parked it. 1/2 hour later, I went to start it, and it just turned over. I tried 3X, but no luck. I disconnected the battery for 20 minutes, and that reset the computer and I got it started. Nothing in the instructions about getting it tuned, or retuned or anything. I bought it for the increased HP and hopefully increased mileage. I tow a motorcycle trailer, and I'm hoping this will help. Any thoughts?
