GM 4L30E Transmission - universal?

Somewhat of a strange topic - but I have a 1999 Isuzu Trooper with a blown Automatic transmission. They used a GM 4L30E in those Troopers, which was used in a lot of Isuzu, Acura, Honda, BMW vehicles....  

 

Question for super mechanic folks - how unique are installs into specific vehicles are the transmissions? Can I take the 4L30E out of an appropriate BMW 325i and fit it up to my Isuzu? Or are the electrical and other connections too unique for that?
