getting GM to swap vehicle-anyone gone through this?

Bought my new Silverado in November. 2 days later it was in the shop for brake system failure. It is in the shop again for steering system failure. I don’t want this truck back. It’s the only vehicle and used for business. We have to have it and it has to not crap out while we are on a job.

has anyone gone through the process of getting GM to switch out the vehicle.

I have Texas lemon law and an attorney wanting to take the case. I don’t want to go either route because it takes months. I need a reliable truck yesterday.

what was the process for you?

Just recently went through the lemon process in Virginia through the BBB, And yes it takes Months filed in July 2019 and got replacement vehicle in November 2019. This was after multiple trips to the dealer and a hearing and too many emails.

My 14 was a complete POS . Several issues . After a total of about 35 days in shop off and on , i asked GM to give me my money back . They balked/delayed/stalled then came back with a stupid low ball offer

I called BBB , and within 40 days , I had my down , my 12 months of payments refunded to me .

I would for sure go with the BBB , and lawyer up if you have to .

Document your issues.  Be detailed and reasonably objective in your comments.  You may find these to be a couple of hiccups before years of trouble free enjoyment.  (It could also turn out to be a truck riddled with ongoing problems).   It is upsetting when a new piece of equipment fails but be patient.  You've only had the truck for a month and I suspect some buyer's remorse is fuelling your upset.   I can recall "brand new"  issues with various makes and models.  of autos, appliances, electronics and even new homes!

We don’t have a lemon law in Canada but I heard you need to have the same issue 3 times to have it “lemon’d”

My wife’s 2016 Explorer Sport has an ongoing issue with a hwy speed shutter.  Local dealer tried fixing it like 4 times and another dealer tried a couple times too without success.

Dealers basically threw the keys at us saying there’s absolutely nothing more they can do and called it a “Normal Driving characteristic of the vehicle.”

I tried going through the Canadian version of having the car bought back but basically once the car hits 20,000 km or something your screwed!  The amount they deduct for mileage is insane!  We would’ve been better off trading the car in for something else.

We’re basically living with it and driving the car around in sport mode to prevent the car from going into 6th gear(problem occurs in 6th gear from 85-100 km/h).

Pretty ****ing annoying!

Hence why there’s new GM truck in the driveway and not an F-150!

Back in college. I had to do a research on which is better leasing or buying. And leasing a luxury car was the way to go vs buying it due to various reasons which included high cost of maintenance and the massive depreciation. Of which our trucks are known for so I am going to say leasing a truck now a days probably better.
