Side step paint flaking off

Hey guys. I have a 2018 Sierra All Terrain. Came with the GM black side steps. Anyone know if the warranty covers an accessory like this? Or am I repainting myself? Haha

 

Paint is flaking off to the bare metal on the bottom side of the drivers step only. And I’m at 31k.

Reviving an old post.. did you ever get around to fixing this? I picked up a set a few days ago and the same thing has happened. Was quoted around $250 to have them blasted and powder coated.

Yeah I’ve kind of settled on a temporary fix sort of. I have some high temp flat paint that I’ve been using on the flaked off parts and it seems to stay pretty well. And it’s also a flat finish so it blends pretty well.

 

I have to travel a lot for work (without the truck) so I haven’t been able to think about or do a ‘full scale real fix’ for it but this sort of hides it well enuff for now.

 

Any time I see continued flaking (which I have...) I go and hit the new spots with that paint. Not the best solution but it hides the problem until I can really look at it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
