Recently made the transition from a 2018 Tacoma TRD Off-Road Double Cab Short Bed to a 2020 Silverado Z71 Duramax 3.0 RST Crew Cab. Just completed the lift and wheel/tire package. Here are the details and some photos. The 10mm Bora spacers are arriving today and will install those. Overall, the truck rides great. I had Nitto Ridge Grapplers on my Tacoma and currently have 33" BFG Mud Terrain's on my '00 lifted Wrangler Sahara. after about 100mi, I'm pleased with the Toyo's. Will be getting an alignment next week even though it rides pretty straight.

CUSTOM OFFSETS:

- Toyo Open Country MT LT295/60/20

- Fuel Rebel 20x10 -18mm 6x5.5 matte dark bronze

- Bora aluminum 0.375 spacers

- Setup is very similar to this

SUPERLIFT:

- 3" lift kit for '19-'20 Silverado.

I removed both mud flaps. There's a lot of rub up front, most all of it is against the felt wheel well liner. I will pull that back and likely end up putting the mud flaps back on. I plan to add some sort of running board/step as the truck is pretty high and the step up into it is not easy.

Feel free to ask any questions or let me know if I missed anything. As far as the truck, I have about 700mi on it and really enjoy driving it. The torque and effortless power from the diesel is amazing. First 50mi road trip from Boston to Cape Cod I got 31.8mpg. This is mostly flat and I was making a conscious effort to achieve good economy.

Any chance you can measure how tall the top of your truck is now?  Preferably the top of the shark fin antenna?  Want to put this lift on my truck.  Just have to make sure it fits in my work garage which is only 7' tall (I think it may be slightly less in certain spots.  Will have to double check lol).

Was just able to measure as I wasn’t with the truck. 78” give or take an inch. You should be good to go.

FrankK986 How is the Superlift 3" working for you after 1 year?

Still working just fine, no issues after 1 year. I’m driving cross country 3,500mi next week with a trailer in tow so that will be a great test.

I’ve purchased SumoSprings for the rear as it was sagging too much.

Thank you! I’ve since sold it and have a TRX on order but no issue with the auto 4wd whatsoever. The truck ride beautifully with the entire setup. I drove it 3000mi cross country and had no issues (can’t say the same with the Diesel engine, it broke down a dozen times).

Sorry to hear that man with the engine but congrats on the new TRX those are bada** trucks! If you don’t mind can you share the issues you were having with the diesel I might look into something different if they’re issues they haven’t resolved in the 22s

Hi - my issue with the Diesel appeared to be some sort of sensor that was telling the ECU my DEF was empty when it was indeed completely full. This caused the truck to go into limp mode, technically it’s like 40mph. The real issue was I was towing a 7,000lb enclosed trailer on I-40 in New Mexico at 2am and the truck essentially shut down on the highway. I could only go 10-15mph.

This threw all sorts of CEL’s on the dash. There was no easy fix so I limped it to my destination which was about 700mi away. It broker down about 15 more times. When I got the truck home I had it flatbedded to the dealer. It sat for 2-3 weeks and had numerous issues - they said it was leaking oil and potentially diesel fuel. They also said a sensor was busted so even though DEF was full, the ECU was showing it empty.

I had them buy the truck from me. I didn’t want to see it again. Needless to say with the vehicle shortages I made money on it.

Perhaps my issue was isolated but given the real inconvenience it caused and the danger it put me in, I wouldn’t buy another diesel.

wow that’s crazy makes me wonder if maybe you had a lemon i’ve heard of people having very little issues and a lot more having none but i’ve had bad luck with chevy in the past myself similar situation lots of lights on the dash and going into limp mode dozens of times and had the dealership pick it up for a final time before getting rid of it makes me very nervous giving them another shot especially hearing what you’ve gone through…hope you are having much better luck with your new truck! if i’m spending almost 60k on a truck i expect it to last with good care thank you for all the information you’ve provided me🍻
