Are there any diffinitve answers to the question of wether the active fuel / cylinder deactivation/ valve and lifter  problems were solved on the 2015 sierra 5.3 engine. Mine has 71,000 mile, and powertrain warrantee to 100,000. Kind of leary on keeping it past that. Any help is appreciated.

Judging from my recent lifter failure I'd say the problem hasn't been fixed. My truck is also a 15 and had around 70k on it when cyl 7 collapsed taking out the cam and valve.

Nope.

 

You could own a 2018 and still have the problems or even a 2019-2020.

 

There are far more trucks without issues than there are with, that is what you get with mass produced vehicles like this.

 

Be leery all you want but in the end you could trade up and be in the same boat in a few years anyway. FYI new trucks only come with a 5 year/60k warranty unless you buy an extended one.

 

This repair is cheaper than a new truck anyway.
