Never used a clay bar yet but due to water spots i want to try it. Question...I also have those fine scratches from using a sponge to wash my truck. If I clay bar what will be the effect on these scratches? i know that the clay bar won't remove the scratches but will it cause any other issues, like the scratches holding onto the clay?

You shouldn't have any issues with the claybar. It is unreal how the paint feels after a quick shot with the claybar :)

i used a claybar for the first time saturday and my lord what a difference, my trucks a black 02 denali sierra and the finish was not coming as shiny as before so i used a claybar and it cleaned the crap that washing wont get off the paint and then i used meguires polish and the thing looks brand new . theres stuff that gets on your paint that washing wont remove and it dulls your finish and makes light scratchs like you describing show up worse. use a clay bar and you wont be disapointed!

:P remember to use dish soap before the clay bar, this is clean all wax off, so the clay bar can deal with the other things easier.

Clay get get "sticky" depending on how and where it's stored, and the temp when being stored and even manufactured, this holds true for all brands of clay, there are only 3 clay manufacturers in the US.

I've always stored clay in a Tupperware container. All of my car care stuff stays in the house so the heat of the garage doesn't screw it up. Houston summers have a way of ruining everything.
