I have heard a few here and on other forums express dislike with Dexcool.

What seems to be the problem? I have a 2000 with a 5.3 and have had no problems to date. Is there something I should know??

some people have problems that they say are caused by dexcool, many more do not, I would keep running it but change it out every 2 years/50k use distilled water or tap water if you are sure it contains no minerals never use well water, make sure you never mix dex with normal and make sure your cap is sealed there si soem evidence that dexcool does not handle dirt/dust very well

My big problem with Dexcool is that it is supposed to last some very long time, like 5 years or something. After 2-3 years it looks really bad, if you dont think so, compare it to some Dex right out of the container. Most of the time I just switch to the Green because I change it at the same interval I change the Dex.

There is a class action against GM/Texico over DeathCool.

Known problems when air and dirt gets into the system.

Radiator shop owner retired on the added business DeathCool brought in, now looking for new after 28 years of service from this guy. Lucky dog!

Here's some hot links to info/discussion/class action:

...Tex/GM article...kinda sorta admission

BAD to mix DeathCool and green

All my cooling problems and leaking quit when I switched my cars to Dex-cool.

I hate the green stuff. It also dissolved the head gaskets on one car. The green stuff, that is. Never had a problem with Dex-cool.

Running Dexcool. Truck just past it's 4 year aniversary, still running factory Dex. Tow 23ft trailer at least once a month, coolant temp NEVER moves once it is warmed up, no leaks, and no problems.
