Painting Wheels

I was planning on getting some 18x9 Fuel Coverts in red but after looking and thinking about, those wheels will be a pain to keep clean. i wanted to keep some of the red theme going with my AT4 (have custom badges on order) what i may do instead is get black Fuel Trophy or Anza 18x9 as i originally wanted and plasti dipped the grey ring red. another great thing is with these wheels i can get them matching my UTV.

I'm Curious has anyone plasti dipped a wheel? i got quotes to paint them and it came out to the price of the wheels which don't sound like a good idea. i'll probably paint my brake calibers red also which will be cool as my Jeep has red Bembo's.

They will look like $hit pretty quick. You will constantly have to touch them up from rock chips.

The only real way to do it is to powdercoat them. You can get them powdercoated for like $50-75 a wheel. Or you could sell your wheels and buy cheap aftermarket wheels that are already the color of your choice. Even powdercoat will chip eventually...

In my opinion, plasti dipped does not look good on wheels. After a while the color starts to look flatter and flatter, basically fades. Removal is easy. But overall look is not good. Best option would be to powder coat them. And I’ve seen powder coat prices run from $400-$700. It really depends how much you want to keep that look. You should look into after marker wheels that come red so you don’t have to pay double in the end.

I'm talking emailed Fuel to see if they will do these wheels.

I wonder if a 18x10 -12mm wheel will clear on our trucks with stock tires?
