jason1198 Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 Anyone know if there’s anything else needed to do on a 2017 4wd Silverado to swap to a 3.73 from a 3.42 other than the ring and pinion gear.
gat0r Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 tuning for speedo & odometer juice doesnt seem worth the squeeze for not much of a jump in gearing.
Briar Posted May 26, 2020 Posted May 26, 2020 I currently 2014 regular cab short bed WT2 making ~500rwhp. I changed out my factory G80 3.08 diff and gear for a Yukon DuraGrip Diff and 3.73 gear. I found out that the 3.08 and 3.42 share the same size diff case and I would need a larger diff case to move up to 3.73 ring and pinion. I had it all changed for around $1500 parts and labor. I like the DuraGrip just fine but wanted to use a Detroit Truetrac diff but Eaton doesn't make one that will work unless you add spacer between the ring gear and diff. Good Luck Factory diff on right vs new Duragrip on left..
truckguy82 Posted May 27, 2020 Posted May 27, 2020 Oem 6 speed max tow = 3.73 oem 8 speed max tow = 3.43 Not sure about physical differences, but there is factory 3.73 gears
flyingfool Posted May 27, 2020 Posted May 27, 2020 wrecker yard, Denali 4x4 , I would just swap whole axles, always good to have a back up or something to modify without being down in the garage waiting for the mechanic to finish up the job
