Am I reading this right? The upgrade will include navigation?

"For vehicles without HD radio, the upgrade will also enable it. For the cost, WAMS will also upgrade your infotainment to include navigation as well."

For me, I'll stick to Waze via CarPlay. But for many, that might help justify the price tag.

That’s correct but I think they’re saying adding navigation will cost a bit more than just adding the wireless CarPlay. I’m with you, if you have CarPlay you don’t need factory navigation. I prefer google maps.

I think I'll continue to plug the cord in for the estimated $800.00 cost.  Pretty cool they can do it though.

Damn $800 I’m sure glad my Carplay2air works flawlessly for me. I don’t understand why they would give us a wireless charger but not wireless  CarPlay.

You're lucky with the carplay2air. I've bought 2 thinking the first was just bad and it was a pain in the ass to return. Neither one worked for me.

Yeah I don’t want to update anything incase it screwes it up lol. If it didn’t work I would be buying this module as well. Just not sure why the dealers can’t reprogram our modules instead of buying all new.

I agree. Good news is this is a factory GM module made for the '21. White automotive just programs it with your vin number to work flawlessly in the 20. Worth every penny IMO!

Yeah exactly! I know if my carplay2air dies or stops working I’ll be ordering one of these the same day lol. Having everything wireless is wicked specially if your keeping the vehicle for many years.

I'm another happy White Automotive and Media customer. Their Wireless CarPlay upgrade works flawlessly for me. the price was a bit hard to swallow but once I got over that, I was good to go.

If I spent more time driving my truck it might be worth it to me. I have the carplay2air and it works most of the time - although frustrating when it doesn't. I really only need carplay for long trips to get Waze which also sucks the phone battery dry - so the cable connection takes care of that (I don't have wireless charging).

I have a 2021 silverado 2500hd with carplay wireless projection... my experience is (with just 1k I put on the truck so far)... it's finicky to establish a connection via bluetooth for carplay. I've had waaaaaay more failure than success.  But I have gotten it to work 3xs.  I'm a tech guy and baffled. Wired usb works fine. Onstar has been no help for a solution, they play right out of a scripted play book and in the end, I'm no better off. Disappointing, I've been so looking forward to that feature working seamlessly. Seems more work is needed for integration to flawlessly do what was paid for.  Bummed... Open to any ideas... altho I think I've tried them all minus taking it to the dealer.

What version of iOS are you running? I had these problem at first and as soon as I updated to the newest software it fixed. Also, I'm sure you've tried this already, but try forgetting your phone and then re-adding it. This has fixed some bugs for me too. I wouldn't say mine is flawless but it definitely works flawlessly 95% of the time!

    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
    • Atlas, you kill me As aggravating as a project like this can be you have been unable to hide your fascination with learning and using that angst against this beast like a Ninjitsu Master. It amuses you, admit it now.      BTW, love your writing style. 😉
    • I gotta say, I'm enjoying your narration. The troubles you've been having are amusing as you describe them. It's good to see that you're finally getting some satisfaction out the old beast though.
