Have the 2020 Silverado Custom. The truck came without an insulator pad under the hood.

I haven't been able to find a correct part number for the custom.

84391123 is the option for the trim packages RST, LT, Trail Boss.

84391124 is the option for High Country and LTZ.

When trying to order, neither one comes back as a fit for the custom. Not sure if I even need one or not but they are inexpensive and heard they reduce heat. Any thoughts on this?

It looks like 84391123 is spec’d for the 5.3 and 84391124 is for the 6.2. As soon as I enter the 4.3 or 2.7 as my engine in the browser the insulator option goes away. Even an RST with the 2.7 won’t show the part. I looked under my hood (4.3 Custom) and it looks like the hood is punched correctly to accept the retainers. I used to gmpartsdirect to investigate the part numbers. 354eef48541ad4615679ca4bec7ac23d.jpg

I think they are all the same, there are no different part numbers. I have a WT 5.3 and it fit no problem

I always thought it was a safety thing where it acts as a fire blanket incase the engine catches on fire the plastic screws would melt and the blanket would fall and smother any flames. If that's one of it's intended purposes I'm actually surprised every vehicle doesn't have one?

That’s what I thought too so I was surprised mine didn’t have it. I have the custom 2.7l. Did the WT trim not come with it? I was thinking it was more engine related... maybe the to let the 2.7 cool more and obviously noise would t be as much of an issue with that engine.

I was wondering if there is a logical reason my 2021 Sierra 1500 does not have a hood insulation pad but the Silverados do? I do note that the firewall now has an aluminized pad that my previous Sierra didn't. Would it hurt anything to order a Silverado pad and put it on my Sierra? They are relatively inexpensive and I assume add a bit of protection/longevity to the exterior hood paint but wouldn't want to overheat anything or cause any other problems.

Thanks in advance for any advice on this matter.
