Just put a deposit down for a 2020 1500 AT4, all black.

here are the things i am doing to it.  what else have you guys done?

truck is coming with the performance exhaust upgrade.

putting a 2" level kit

taking off the stock wheels and tires and going with a GM all black wheel 20" and 285/65/r20 Nitto Ridge Grappler

taking off stock step bars and putting the amp research power steps

adding hard folding tonneau cover

replacing chrome exhaust tips with black tips

i plan on selling the full set of stock wheels and tires and the bars...

i am thinking about getting the kicker subwoofer added too.

Very cool I can’t wait to see what you do. I bought a black 2020 AT4 5.3L a few months ago.  I love it! All I’ve done is had the dealer install the REV hard tonneau cover. I’ve got an organizer for the giant center console coming and I’d also like to get some vent visors.

Did your's have the stock 20's or stock 18's? If it was the stock 20's that look like this I may buy them from you.

Do you like your S-Type? Trying to decide if I should go for it or go with the ATAK.

Installed my Bakflip MX4 today, anyone had them propped up all the way against the rear window using the gimpy looking prop rods down the highway? They do not look secure enough to stay up the way the promotional instruction videos say

Love it.  It really depends on individual taste but I think it’s about perfect and I get many compliments on it and people asking “what exhaust is that?  It sounds so sweet!”  It’s actually louder than I expected on cold start but then quiets down quickly and I have virtually no drone.  Generally quiet cruising unless climbing a steady grade, then I’ll sometimes hear it.

I’ve used them several times and not had any issues.

It has occurred to me to ask, what cab configuration do you have? Short box? I am suspecting the different box length would result in different mounting position for the prop rod to the plastic rail it sits in

I have 2019 AT4 Carbon Pro 6.2L - 10 speed

Done the following so far:

AT4 badges replaced with black ones, from 2020 Carbon Pro

Exhaust tips replaced with black ones

Ready Lift SST 2" level kit and upper control arms

18 x 9" - 18mm Offset Method NV wheels

275/65/18 Wranger Duratracs (stock tires)

GM Performance Package (came with cat back exhaust - added air box and tune)

Came with kicker speakers in tailgate

Very happy with truck.

Looking to upgrade shocks and may do BDS 2.5" lift with Fox 2.5" coilovers and Fox 2.0's in rear to upgrade suspension from the RL SST/stock Rancho shocks - that looks nice and rides decent on road, but has limited offroad potential - to something that performs well on an off road.   Add Deaver rear spring pack at the same time and finish it off with 285 or 295 BFG KO2's .

Few photos - from stock to current

    • Yep! This should be a pin somewhere as @pgamboa really dives into all of this. Thanks for reposting the link!
    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
    • Atlas, you kill me As aggravating as a project like this can be you have been unable to hide your fascination with learning and using that angst against this beast like a Ninjitsu Master. It amuses you, admit it now.      BTW, love your writing style. 😉
