Cell Phone Mount

Recommended Posts

Can anyone suggest a good cell phone mount for my 2015 Silverado 2500?  With the texture on the dash pad, suction cups won’t hold and there really isn’t a flat space on the dash itself.  I prefer not to mount it to the windshield, NJ is funny about that.

Retrofit HMI 2.5 so you can have Android Auto / CarPlay.  Plug directly into USB, use head unit to control what you need.  No reason to have a mount in these trucks.
I have a 2016 with Android Auto and I use it religiously. I have a Proclip USA center console mount on the driver's side with a short USB C cable. Every time I get in I drop my phone in the mount and connect the cord. Everything is neat and in its place and at a fingers touch if I need something beyond what AA offers. So I agree that AA and CP are great but I don't think they negate the need for a mount.

That's what the rubber ridged thing in the center console is for.  I have a short USB-C cord  that plugs in, it sits in the rubber thing and doesn't move.  GM put it there for a reason so you wouldn't need a mount.

They also gave us a wireless charger that hardly fits any phone made in the last 4 years and no AA or CP wireless support. I realize what the ridges are for. If you read my build thread you'll see I made a custom mount with the USB C connector extending up through the ridges to basically dock my phone every time I got in but ultimately it wasn't stable enough. I found even placing my phone on its side to be cumbersome and to use the phone required disconnecting if you used a short cable which kills AA or CP. With the mount I get the best of both worlds. Easy access to the phone and AA. Again, I don't disagree about using AA and CP but the person asked for mount recommendations and I don't agree that using AA or CP eliminates the need for a mount not to mention the hundreds to thousand plus dollars it would cost them to get a new HMI programmed just to get to the point of having AA and CP as an option.
