I have a 2018 Silverado LT with Z71 package. I went today to a reputable local off road shop and got a quote for wheels/tires/level kit. 

 

The recommendation was for the Ready Lift 2.25" level kit with upper control arms (mine has stamped arms), Fuel Rebels in 20x9 0 offset(black), and Falken Wildpeak AT3W in 305/55/20. The shop quoted me $4000. This included new lug nuts, mount, balance, and alignment. Am I wrong to think this seems high for the work and parts being used?

 

I will admit I am totally ignorant on this subject, but I specifically told the shop I wanted absolutely no rubbing and no trimming. This is my first time dealing with any truck mods and I don't like the idea of pieces and parts rubbing. Am I wrong to think this 12.5" wheel is a bad choice as well that will certainly lead to rubbing?

 

Any other recommendations? My research led me to believe with this level/wheel combo I would need something more like 275/60/20.

 

I know these questions get asked endlessly, but I am in totally new territory for me. Thank in advance for any help.

I would say it’s a little on the high side but not by much for a shop doing it, I have the exact same level and UCAs on my 17 and I love it, rides and drives great. All the research I’ve done says that tire size should be good, the worst you’ll have to do is maybe zip tie the bottoms of your fender liners back some. My 33x12.50x20s should be here tomorrow with 20x10 rims with a -24mm offset. Everything I read in many different places says that’s the worst I’ll have to do.

1500 in tires, 800 wheels, 500 control arms, ez lift isnt expensive, so if you can change a pair of struts yourself, yes it's expensive. 

 

1000 to swap struts and uppers lo l

Buy some premium tires and wheels, forget the level, and pay down a loan (or save) with the thousands left over.  Your truck will run at peak efficiency with a stock tire size (275/55/20) and stock height.  Good looks are often subjective and/or expensive!  ?

UPDATE--- 

 

I got my 33x12.50x20s today, -24 offset, they rub. They rub the plastic piece at bottom of fender. Not sure yet what I'm gonna do, gonna make another attempt Thursday and may trim the plastic. You maybe just fine with that Tire and wheel combo, especially with the 0 offset, it should put the outer side wall in further and not catch that plastic piece.

That's what I'm thinking. I reached out to Ready Lift and they said it "should" be ok with the +2 offset that Fuel Contras come in. Naturally they wouldn't promise no issues.

 

My truck stays mostly on pavement or smooth gravel roads. Worst it's seen is a dry creek bed, never had to use 4wd in my life. I just don't want to deal with any rubbing, if it could just be a simple fix with pulling back fender liners I am not opposed to that. Seems people run 275/60/20 with no level so I can't imagine I should have issues.

Had I went with the 33s and my stock 20s, I would have had no issues, but the-24 offset on a 10 in wide rim causes a slight rub, I could run them but I've decided I'm gonna get my 275/60/20 Nitto Terra Grapplers mounted and sell the 33s, I've researched that now as well and there is minimal rubbing, the tires are still 33in diameter but narrower and less rubbing. The Nittos have about 2k miles on them so plenty of life left and look almost as good. I'm a little bummed but I'm not doing surgery to 50k dollar truck lol.

See I have factory 18's so I have to make the jump to aftermarket wheels since I want 20's, or rather if I am going to pay for them I prefer aftermarket over factory 20's.

 

I don't mind the narrower size so long as I can pull it off without rubbing.

What about with 275/60/20? I didn't want the 305s they quoted as they are like 70 pound tires, I don't need some crazy tire like that.

That tire will fit with no trouble on that rim, stock 20s are 20x9 with a around a +20 offset, somewhere around that number, can't remember, anyhow that's what I'm running right now and there's plenty of room, with a 0 offset you'd still be good.

For what it’s worth I run 20x8.5 +10mm kmc slides with 275x60r 20 on my 2016 z71. Currently at stock height I rub the inner wheel well at full lock and also graze the weather tech mud flaps when in reverse and on a slant. 
 

I will be getting the bilstein 5100 shocks and setting them on the 3rd ring which should give me the little extra clearance I need and have a little less than 1” rack back to front, which I want since I tow my boat.

UPDATE #2

I decided I was going to try the 33s one more time with plastic trimming, successfully pulled it off! Very very minor rub on fender liner at full lock. I don't 4 wheel other than a occasional camp road and every where else I drive this setup will be fine.
