2019 Silverado, Removed door handle, closed door with panel on... now im stuck

Removed my backseat door handle, closed the door with the panel on.  Didn't realize that this would lock the door and pulling the door handle from the inside does not work.    Found a thread about this issue but no one seemed to answer how to fix this specific issue with the door panel on.   Help please

Cause that door panel is going to have to be off to get to the mechanism inside the door to get the door open.

The torx screw that you loosened to get the handle out has to be tightened back up in order to open the door from the inside. Its a pain. You will have to unscrew the screw on the outside of your door where the handle was just enough to loosen it. That will release and let you get access to the mechanism inside your door from the inside. You will have to climb over the drivers seat and get to the mechanism from the inside of your door. It will hang down once you loosened the scew and you will have access to the the torx screw to tighten it. Then put it back in place and tighten the screw on the outside of the door and you should be able to open it from the inside now.

Hopefully your window is rolled up and your inside panel is off so you have access to the part inside the door. If not then I would bring it to a dealer.

I don't see a way of getting the panel off while door is closed. I would stop by your local dealer and see if there's anything they can do. There's gotta be another way they can get the door open

The OP hasn't been on here for over 3 years. I suggest a trip to your dealership.

I was able to figure it out. 
 Had to loosen the screw on the outside that held the handle mechanism in place. Had to angle it inside the door so I could see the torque screw  through the handle hole and with a long torque screwdriver was  able to turn the screw to allow the handles to work again… 

 Wasn’t the easiest but got it done

Anyone figured out how to get the door open with the panel on? My truck will unlock, but neither handles will open the door.

Forgive me if I don’t understand the situation. Can you hit unlock on fob or control switch at the front . Then go around the passenger side to enter then open the rear drivers side from the inside door handle? Again I may not understand the situation here so forgive me.

I ran into this problem. I had removed the interior driver's side door panel and disconnected the cable, ready to install a replacement door handle (the old one just failed breaking the metal). The door then closed and clicked, leaving me no access to open the door. The fix I found (forget the credit card idea) was to take two pairs of vice grips, hold the sleeve of the cable with one and the ball on the end of the cable with the other and pull sharply. This unlatched the door sufficiently for me to open it as usual from the outside.
