3.0L 2nd Check Engine Light in 5000 miles...

At 3400 miles in early June I experienced my first check engine light which the dealer said was related to the DEF settings/software recall. Just over this past weekend the check engine light came on again at 4900 miles?? Anyone else experiencing multiple check engine lights already? Even if it is just a recall or software updates, visiting the dealer can be an inconvenience.

Knock on wood, no problems here. 3500 miles.

I did visit the dealer for the update.

Ditto. Got the first one at about 1500 miles, did the firmware update. Got the second about 700 miles later. They said it was a bad sensor and they were on backorder. Funny thing is a couple of days later the light went out.

Well - same here. The check engine light is now gone... Not sure what to do here - Should I take it in and have it looked at?

I would take it in any way to get it checked out. Light went out then came back on after I got back from a 2800 mile trip, it's still on. I called OnStar and it was the same code as before P1488 I believe. Gonna call the dealer today so see if there is any update on the parts.

Funny thing, I drove the truck to Alabama from Colorado on vacation. Light went out about 2 days before I left. When I got back and the truck was down to under 1/2 tank the light came back on. I filled up yesterday and this morning no light. Wierd.

Ya - definitely weird... Wonder if some sort of bad sensor is causing it? I have not taken my truck in to have it looked at yet.

Mine is in the shop for the 4th time with this issue. I've had 2 sensors replaced and the software updated because of a recall. A GM engineer has suggested that we replace clamp that might be causing a leak ahead of the sensor. This part, like the sensors are on backorder so take the truck back home then back to the dealer when the part is in. Ridiculous.

I've had check engine light come on twice now but go away both times.

*1st time was after sitting in my car, idling for well over an hour, turned off for the day. Next morning came out, started it up and light was on. Drove around for a while, still on. Turn car off, came back later started it up and light was off.

*2nd time was more recent, light was on. Ended up making a 40+ mile highway drive, still on. Next day it was on, drove around for a while on highway to see if it would go out, didn't. Next morning started up, light on so I set up a service appointment at the dealership. Drove to dealership and the light went of on my way there. lol

One of the recall things they had to check and replace was this: N202300791 Diesel Exhaust Fluid System Inactive. Cause: recall. reprogrammed reductant control module with sps wcc: 14yn45480655

If that means anything for you all

ETA - it's been running just fine, no light or anything since then. About 500-600 miles driven

18K runs great no CEL. 3 recalls. Does have some random display reboot issues. Otherwise a good truck so far.

3000 miles. Had persistent CEL and P1488 code. Dealer replaced particulate sensor and updated sw for DEF system. Hopefully that does it. Great truck otherwise.
