I'm having a hard time getting concise info on this.  I have the 2019 1500 LD.  Is this essentially the same exact truck as the 2018?  I'm finding that when trying to look for accessories online many of the sites direct a 2019 year immediately to the new body style without the option to choose old body.  If I need an accessory, can I simply use the 2018 year or are there differences?  Do any of you know what those differences are?  Why would they change to the LD for 1/2 a year to turn around with a completely different design?  I already have an issue where an under seat storage box was bought for me and it's incorrect because it is for the new body.

Yes, it is essentially the exact same truck as the 2018.  They do this to wind down the old body style production line and get the new line up to full operation and still be able to meet demand for trucks.  A production line for a vehicle isn't a simple thing to just turn on and produce at 100% right away.

If your 2019 looks like a 2018, its a Silverado "LD" aka Silverado "Legacy" model.

You can look up as a 2018, but the official Chevrolet Accessories site can pull it all up properly with or without a VIN:  https://accessories.chevrolet.com/search?year=2019&make=Chevrolet&model=Silverado 1500 LD&modelId=27208&body=Extended Cab Pickup&bodyId=18&wheel=Standard Box&wheelId=132&trim=LT&trimId=430&drive=4WD&driveId=8&engine=5.3L V8 FLEX&engineId=2059&bodyNumDoors=5

Aftermarket companies is where I can see confusion happening.

As LDM pointed out, the 2019 "LD" trucks were produced to keep truck inventory on hand during the body style changeover.  GM even ran 2018 crew cab 1500s all the way to December 2018 because the 2019 new trucks weren't hitting dealers until April-May 2019.  The 2019 "LD" are all double cab only and were made to again keep a double cab configuration on the lots until they ramped up the T1 double cabs.

This is not the first time GM has done this either.  They did it in 2007 with the launch of the GMT-900.  You could get a 2007 "Classic" which were GMT-800 trucks, and the same in 1999 and 2000 during the GMT-400 to GMT-800 changeover.  People get mad at me on the phone when I ask them what body style 2007 they have when pulling up parts for one.  They don't seem to grasp that it makes a big difference.

Yes, use 2018 when searching for parts online. Newdude explained it very well.

All sounds good.  The truck I traded in was actually the 2007 New Body but all aftermarket parts/accessories/etc websites had that option.  With my truck now, most of them don't.

Order parts for a 2018, you will be fine. If you do the 19, it will pick up the new body style, or use sites you can plug in your VIN.
