Anyone throw on a black widow muffler yet? I was looking at the angry wife and was wondering if anyone put one of their mufflers on their new truck yet

Thanks!

I've only ever ran Flowmaster prior to getting a Black Widow, so minimal experience.

That being said, I have a Black Widow Venom 250 and absolutely love it.   Basically 0 drone on the highway.   Strongly recommend it.   I also like the sound - it has a more clear tone than the flowmaster.

Sound is objective to each person obviously.

I personally am not a fan of these super loud mufflers but being a Black Widow product i would say Yes go for it.

Did you keep the flapper on when you stuck the new muffler on or did you take it out with the old one?

The flapper was removed and I also had the resonator removed.   Yes it does drone in V4, at certain speeds it is worse than other speeds.   I just kind of live with it or drive in M7 if not on the highway.  If I'm on the highway going 75 and it happens to go into V4, it's hardly noticeable.

I had a race venom in my 18, I bought another for my 2020 . Getting installed monday , deleting the flapper and resonators .

on my 18 it sounded fierce. Every time I went somewhere people asked me what I had in her.

I will let you know Monday how she sounds through the duals

Also just a note the angry Housewife is just a shorter race venom , apparently its not quite as loud as the regular race venom , but a little less raspy. (I like the rasp in the race venom) Stock right now is pretty crappy but looking underneath the truck I recommend an offset-offset or an offset center. 3”.

delete flapper 100%.

Just a note , I installed the muffler today , deleted the flapper.

I opted to try it with the resonator screens left on, factory dual setup for research purposes lol.

The resonators really really really quiet the good tone. I will post a couple videos.

Sounds good. Any on the gas or in the cabin clips? I’m in the market for a muffler. Just stumbled on this. Only makes things worse. I’ve gone from delete/borla atak/borla pro xs. Now I have to add this to the list. Is there any drone? Thanks

There is no drone at all with resonators in place. I went ahead and covered the first two on each side . So 4 of 6 . Leaving only the rear 2 (1 on each side) open.

With this setup you can just barely hear it in the cab if you let off the gas and re engage the pedal at a cruising speed of 60km. I wouldnt call it drone though, the tire noise of the duratracs is louder.

I will get some clips , im going to cut the pipe section out with all 3 resonators and replace it with a piece of 3” stainless. So far its not as loud as my 18.

Btw I used this to cover the resonators.

Sounds nasty(in a good way). I’m assuming it’s pretty loud more towards delete loud?

Its actually not very loud lol. The cold starts are always loud. I liked it better with resonators covered so I dropped it off at the exhaust shop this morning, to do a proper delete of all the resonator screens.

I only drove it a bit when I picked it up at Lunch but im happy with it now. Puts a smile on your face . Its mean sounding.

    • I find it amusing the OP doesn’t realize this threads heading includes several engines. He should have posted in the off topic section if he wanted a more narrow focus. I really appreciate and find amusing that he actually pointed out one of my many vehicles. The Odyssey. That happens to use 0-20 oil. I love pushing his buttons.
    • Maybe, but it seems he is the only one that has backed up data to prove what he is stating. I think he is doing this more because he enjoys it and wants to get the information out to us. He's got the knowledge and access to the proper equipment and having the funds doesn't hurt.  I would love to do what he is doing and would do it if and when I hit the Powerball.  I'm not a Tribologist by any means but love to learn what I can.   I would bet there would be doubting people out there if a completely independent lab with high quality work and highly respected in the automotive industry, put out information like this.  The world can't be pleased, one just has to take the information that they are given, do more of their own research to find actual lab data to back up what they are trying to figure/find out.  Most don't bother, they just want to believe what they first see.     I don't have the minimax but my 6.2 in my 2019 Silverado with 64k miles shows excellent UOA results with 0w-20 and for my own purposes 5w-20.  Since not much of a change using 5w. I liked the data sheet information on the SS 5w-20 and figured I would give it a try.  Still the same viscosity at 100℃.   In the end we all just do what makes us happy, life is too short to get upset over trivial social media.   On a side note, I do feel GM has dropped the ball and just cares about the bottom dollar and not quality anymore.  "Like a Rock" has been long gone.  Seems "Built Ford Tough" has as well.
    • Better than stock but that's like putting lipstick on a pig
    • Hello, my 3 month old Sierra Elevation wont recognize a trailer with electric brakes? All the lights work correctly, but no power to the brakes?   This is the factory installed brake controller. If you manually push the knob, the display shows the power % but does not light up like my 2022 silverado.   I have an appointment with the dealer, but was checking to see if anyone else has seen this issue.    Thanks,
    • Been using SS 0w-20 from new, but wanted to change to the 5w-20 because I liked the data on the data sheet, to me it seems like a little better product. But as you can see, not much difference. This is also with running a mix of 10 gallons E85 to a tank topped with 93. It isn't a flex fuel vehicle so any higher I get a CEL for running lean on both banks. Yes my mileage takes a hit. Instead of 20 mpg I normally get on trips I get 17mpg. This is also using EaO17 filter.  What is amazing is I have the AMSOIL cone filter on it since I have the GM Performance intake installed and that air filter has 44k miles on it.  I just take it out and shop vac it off once a year.  I use the upholstery tool on my shop vac.  Works well.
