Hello to all. 3 weeks ago I started to notice a vibration in the steering wheel. I took it to my gmc dealer and they performed a 4 wheel alignment. After leaving the gmc dealer I noticed that I still have the issue so I went to my buddys tire shop and had all 4 tires rebalanced. I still have the issue but what I have been noticing is that when the trans temp gets around 165 and in overdrive I get the shutter effect. As soon as I put it in 7th gear the shutter goes away. I have a 2016 gmc sierra 6.2 liter with 38000 miles. I just called the dealer and explained what Im seeing and they said they never heard it before. I have a appointment with the dealer this coming saturday. Any hel or info before I go to the dealership I would appreciate it. Also I do not get a check engine light. Also It only happens at speeds of 55 to 75mph.

Most likely it’s the torque converter, maybe AFM. Get them to put the new fluid in the tranny

Had the shudder at about 33,000 miles.  There is a TSB from GM that outlines a  change in transmission fluid from Dextron XX to a special formulated Mobil 1.  My dealer did that under warranty.  It’s been 3 weeks and no shudder.  I’ll be pulling my travel trailer in a couple of weeks and will see how it does under load.

I'm sure they know all about it, seems fairly common. My 16' had it around 10k miles swapped fluids and it came back... I traded the truck. Had spent a ton of time at the dealer without any luck fixing the stutter or steering wheel pop (rough country lift) may have been culprit in wheel pop.

Was the fluid swap to BlueMobil 1?  Just curious.

It was supposed to be a different fluid from the one that had came in it. They ran 3 flushes to get the old out before they put the new in. Went through this twice.

Had this exact same issue on my 2018 6.2 last week. New transmission fluid from the dealer (under warranty) and its fixed... for now.

70 000 km on my truck

As everyone already mentioned, the dealership should/will flush the trans for free if its still under warranty, with the new "blue" fluid. My 6.2L 8 speed was at 65k ( out of warranty) when the shutter/slamming was happening at low end gears, took it to the dealer they flushed it under the new TSB that everyone is mentioning... made it a little better... for a little while, maybe 2-3k miles.

So fast forward to 72k miles I got a letter from GM stating they have been having issues with their transmission temp sensor harness/connection and they would replace it for free if you've been experiencing the slamming/shuttering etc etc. The letter I got in the mail, the dealership references it as "doc# 5636702" and replacing this harness requires them to change out the fluids anyways. So if anyone is PAST their warranty, I would tell them you got this doc number in the mail and require the harness to be replaced.

So far, after the new harness, it shifts extremely smooth. I only have maybe 15 miles on it.. so who knows, it could only last a couple thousand miles again. But this is a way to get a free flush if you're out of warranty.
