After helpful advice to steer clear of a used 2017 Yukon XL Denali, I’ve now set my sights on a 2018 and plan to take it to a mechanic for pre-inspection. Beyond the standard checkpoint list and unreported accident evidence, what questions or standout items should I ask about with this year/model?

Sharkfin antennas may leak and have to be replaced, there's a TSB on it, minor issue with only some vehicles being affected. Otherwise, check the AC compressor carefully. 15-16s had issues with them. They were supposedly resolved in 2017, but do diligence.

It’s a 2018 so has the 10-speed trans. Any other issues from that year?

Are you sure?  5.3 motor has the 6 speed and 8 speed for the 6.2 engine.

6.2s got the 10-speed in 2018

Good truck. I’m a fan of 8 speeds, but I do this for a living.
It’ll need things like any vehicle but I like them. They’re just expensive.
Worst things on those are when the shocks lock up they’re freakin expensive and you can’t hardly drive it when they go bad
