Entryteam Posted September 16, 2020 Posted September 16, 2020 Please forgive me if I sound ignorant... but why is the little "tick" noise in the 5.3 there? I've been told it's normal. Can anyone elaborate on that for me? thanks, guys! 1
B R A D Posted September 16, 2020 Posted September 16, 2020 I've been told it is the direct injection. I had a Cadillac CTS that you couldn't hear it on but definitely hear it on my '18 Sierra while I don't remember it on my '16. I do know it sounds exactly like an exhaust leak and is annoying.Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
SARNCAN Posted September 16, 2020 Posted September 16, 2020 Until now I couldn’t find what it is, but the only thing that I think is close to is the oil pump
flyingfool Posted September 18, 2020 Posted September 18, 2020 usually a tick means a lifter has collapsed on the AFM. before you panic just do a compression check ..
Jaychevy81 Posted September 18, 2020 Posted September 18, 2020 What year is it it could be the vacuum pump. They were redesigned after 2016 some complaints were a ticking noise as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Norcent Posted September 21, 2020 Posted September 21, 2020 I have a slight tick as well I'm not even to 20k yet on my 18... I was told it was injector tick but its not consistent enough in my opinion to be that. As in one day its there and the next its gone... then a few days later its back...
