I searched all over the inter web and couldn’t find the answer. There’s stuff about different rear view mirrors and such but not this mirror (2020 LT Trail Boss).
Has anyone here discovered which wire has 12v power in the basic GM rear view mirror?  I took a photo of exactly what I’m looking at.

Here’s a better photo. I’ve searched other GM forums (different makes, models and years). None of them have a 6-pin connector like my Trail Boss. Plus the funny thing is every diagram out there says the ground is black. The closest one I have is black/blue.

Any guesses on these wires which one is 12v ignition?

Try  gen5diy.com . They offer lots of options . I used their escort wire that goes in the mirror housing on 2020 AT4 . Works , but gave me codes (easily cleared) while fooling with it . Daily use now for over 10,000 miles , no codes (yet). Sorta spendy , But what the hey .

Thanks but I’ve got a mirror tap already and just need to make sense of the weird wire colours.

This guy tapped in with his Dashcam and radar detector. I see you’re looking for the basic and this shows a loaded Denali, so I’m not sure this will help

I saw that video and he tapped into a different plug that my truck doesn’t have. The wire colours don’t even match his either. I also don’t have the tools he’s got. So much for winging it haha!

I have a power magic pro I yanked out of a car I sold. I’m afraid to mess with the fuse box I don’t want to blow anything, the car I had was a Ford Mustang and it was super easy to install the fuse tap in that car, mostly because I found a step by step and which fuse to tap in was very clearly explained. I have a BlackVue battery in the glove box for now. I have the BlackVue dr900s Dashcam

There's no 12V power in that connector, you have a basic mirror, that connector is for the windshield temp and interior humidity sensor, leave it alone :)

I think the other plug is tucked away in your headliner since your have the basic mirror. I read that the trucks are prewired for the other mirrors from factory.

That would be great... is it right by the onstar buttons?

There's definitely a plug on my 20 sierra elevation. I have the same mirror as you. I removed the onstar/garage door panel and there's a plug glued to the liner. That might be it.

Thanks a lot! I took the roof console out and found the plug glued to the headliner just like you said. They used way too much glue on mine, but it came out after a little bit of patience and a lot of prying. The plug and wires matched 100% with the ones in the YouTube video with the Denali from Dmitry’s Garage. Gen5 doesn’t seem to be aware of the unused plug glued into the headliner. For our application they’re running wires from the passenger side fuse box instead.

Here are some pics of my install if it helps anyone else with the manual rear view mirror. I zip tied the pins too so they don’t move.

What cables did you tap into? Going to hook mine up next weekend.

Which color wire of the hidden harness was the 12v?  I want to hook up a map light to it.  I do not have the power mirror like you do, so I could tap into that.
