Headlights can’t be shut off

Just bought a 2019 Sierra Denali. I want to shut off the DRL or the headlights but can’t. Turn the knob to the left does nothing, except for if the truck is in park.

On my '20 Denali I turn headlamp knob to the left to turn off lights completely, even when driving. I believe that should disable DRL.  

Check owners manual.

Nope. The knob only turns off lights when the truck is in park. 
I’ve looked at the manual.

some states and especially canada. you CAN Not totally turn off  driving lights. they are on  all the time. I had a 2004 that was built for Canada has NO OFF For headlights . it was annoying sometimes when i  wanted them off  like in a  parking lot .

My 02 Headlights go out when the E-Brake is set. Give that a shot, although it kills all of the lights.

My truck has an electric E brake, no pedal.

My Bad, forgot about the EBrake!

While driving yesterday, I turned the light switch to the left and lights went out.  So not sure why your truck is unable to. Maybe as stated above or different model year.

Canadian build is my bet.  Did you buy it used?

 

If you have a QR reader on your phone, scan the QR barcode that is on the silver VIN label in your driver door jamb.  It will give you the SPID label with the RPO build codes.  If you see Z49, you've got an ex Canadian truck, hence why you can't turn off the lights except in park.
