Son and I rebuilt the stock 6.0 with 346k miles had blown head gasket and piston slap. Reinstalled and now crank no fire. Has fuel and air. We put two code readers (orange obd pocket scanner and a tuner scanner) and get zero codes. We had three codes and truck was in limp mode before we pulled engine. Now we have no codes, power to coil plug on each side and no fire coming out of any coils now. Grounds and 12v are good to new cam sensor and new crankshaft sensor, checked both at the plugs. All grounds are attached to block and checked with test light to 12v at battery. All fuses good, relays pulled and tested for resistance. Main coil plugs on both sides have 12v and ground coming in and no fire out of coils. Need to know if a real scanner can pull codes in memory or are they all erased since battery was unhooked for awhile? Do I need to get it flashed? Scratching head and watching ALOT of videos lol.

Threw a few new parts at it

Throttle body

MAF

Thanks for any input.

0053 was most recent code prior to pulling running engine. 0300, 1516 were codes when blown head gasket first caused any issues. No rpms on 3rd scanner.

Thank you for answering. Yes I have original crank sensor and it's a hall type that I cannot figure out how to bench test. What scares me is the chance of the new sensor being bad.

It bad,or wiring to it,weak spot is right behind power steering pump, follow the procedure on the site I mentioned,if it's wiring, you know where to look

Well its running. Took new crank sensor back to Oreillys, popped in the newest one and this is where I messed up. I bought a MAP sensor and installed it at same time so I have no idea if new crank sensor was bad or MAP sensor solved it but it fired up for first time since September. Then did the break in on new engine then shut it down for evening. Next day no start, flooded. Changed plugs and fed it some break cleaner into the MAS and got a few cylinders to pop and it finally cleaned itself out and was idling smooth and took it for its first test run. Just started it back up this morning and its idling beautifully. Now off to get inspection. Thank you for the input, I truly appreciate the response.

Also ensure you put PCV hose at valve cover back on?‍♂️. Amazing how perfect the truck runs now. Also added 8 oz tranny dacron 4 to quiet lifters.
