Just bought my 21 Trail Boss LT and I can't get my infotainment system to stay connected to my home Wi Fi.  It will see my SSID's and will initially connect but then after a few seconds will disconnect. They are of course password protected and I enter the proper password. It will connect, just won't stay connected. Anyone else have this problem?

I also wonder if being connected to my home Wi fi is the only way to have over the air updates done or does Chevy have another way of connecting to my vehicle?

I have the same issue with my 2021 RST. Also when I push the Apps button I get a message to the effect that I need a data service. Check your Apps button to see if you can access the Apps Store. There is a GM bulletin on this issue.

I currently have, & you should also, a 30 day trial Onstar data plan. I have not been able to use the trial because of the issues with my system. I also do not have am or fm radio. A week ago I took my truck to the selling dealer to fix the problems. They did not fix any of it. Monday I am taking it to another dealer.

Added.

It is my understanding that if you do not have the Onstar data plan, connecting to wifi is the only way to get over the air updates.

My 30 day trial of OnStar ( Which used to be 6 months) and my data plan has just expired.  I can't access the app store and I was under the impression that updates over the air were done in some other way than the OnStar Wi-Fi account. I had this Wi-Fi problem even when my OnStar account was active, so I guess I'll just have to bring it to the dealer. I also just wanted to add how upset I am with Chevrolet that they took away the phone app unless you pay $14.99 a month. My 2018 Colorado had this feature for 10 years even if you didn't pay for the premium OnStar plans. Thanks Chevy, all my friends with Fords are laughing at me now because they get a lot more tech features FREE. Well. I guess I'm asking a lot for 50 grand!

Our Hyundai you have to pay to get remote start. It's a phone app.

when they gave you a feature previously that was free and now you have to pay for as well as paying much more for the vehicle I get a little annoyed. My friend has a 2020 F150 and has most of the phone app features free of charge. My son in-law just bought a 2020 Ranger and he also has this feature free. I probably only used this once or twice when I had it with my 2018 Colorado but It was nice to have if you needed it. I'll never pay $ 15.00 a month to lock my doors remotely. I'm starting to think maybe my next truck might not be a GM.

I was surprised after my purchase that I had to pay extra for the connect feature. I have not decided what to do yet. If I do, I will look at it as paying for insurance against being locked out, unless I also do not have my phone.

My lockout insurance on vehicles with regular keys was that I always had at least 2 keys on me, plus keys hidden in the truck. That has now changed with keyless lock & start.

I have to do some more reading on what can & cannot be done with a remotes.

Pretty sure it's all but impossible to lock your key fob inside the truck. If you lose or misplace your key you can open the doors, start the engine but I believe once you go to put the truck in drive it will shut down. I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure that is how mine worked before they shut down my phone app.

My wifi connections got repaired today. I can now connect to my home wifi & access the app store.

I still do not have am of fm radio. They had to order a cable.

They either charge monthly for it or it's added to the cost of the truck.

When they charge monthly for it we have a choice.

Change was made about May 2018.

If you are referring to over the air updates like system updates (not updates to the app's) then the vehicle will still get the over the air updates regardless if you have a data plan or connected to Wifi.

I'm pretty sure the company cannot, legally, make you connect to Wifi or be on their data plan for a system update.

My 2019 Silverado just did a system update yesterday and it never been connected to any Wifi source nor do I have a current data plan with Chevrolet.

I am having the same WiFi issues, my am/fm works. What had to be done/replaced to correct wifi issues?

The paperwork said that they did a reprogram.

I gave this information to the service department.    Technical Service Bulletin #20-NA-221

I have the same problem with my 2021 LT Trailboss.  First the 4g did not work, then after 3 weeks in the dealership service department, now it works, but it still won't connect to a wifi...  The dealership cannot figure it out & supposedly GM engineering either.  In the 4 weeks since I bought it, I've actually had possession of it for 4 days.  I am am wits end & getting really ticked off at Chevy!

There is a programming update for this issue.  A whole thread about it.  Hopefully it will fix yours.
